6 Reason To Be Excited For The Season!
If you’re a basketball fan then this is one your favorite times of the year, the season will begin in less than a month and nights will be filled all week long with talent in the gym. For those who are on the fence about whether or not they should be looking forward to this season, we have decided to give you a hand a highlight a few story lines and teams that should get you excited for the season.
- Will Cox Mill HS win 3 in a row? They return a nice amount of talent which includes Duke Commit and #1 2019 prospect in the state Wendell Moore. Winning back to back championships is difficult but three in a row is even tougher, it should be fun to see this team make a run at another title.
- The Emergence of Greg Gantt! With the early departure of Joey Baker and Audiese Toney, Gantt will be called on to have a more of a leadership role on a nightly basis. With his recruitment already finished, he now has the ability to simply focus on doing whatever it takes to get his team back to a state championship.
- If you like offensive showcases, go see First Flight! There won’t be many teams that you will watch in high school that can shoot the ball overall like First Flight. They push the tempo, let the three point shots fly, and if they get hot? It could be a long day for an opponent that they may have.
- Top ranked 2020 Forward Isaiah Todd has made his way down to NC! Any time a state gains a player of his caliber, you have to be excited about getting to see them on the court. Todd is a special talent, it’s hard to label him with a particular position as he can do so many different things on the court. Schools such as Kentucky, UNC, Florida, Villanova and Maryland have all offered or shown high interest in the talented youngster from Virginia.
- A new look for Greensboro Day! The 2018 class was one of the final groups that were a part of the GDS teams that we saw matched up with Montverde at Dicks Nationals back in 2015. Now the Bengals have reloaded and are led by a young but talented group which has two of the top players in the 2021 class in Carson McCorkle and Cam Hayes . Their schedule is always intense and NCISAA 3A is always a challenging league so it should be fun to watch how things play out.
- MJ Rice! If you haven’t got the opportunity to see one of the best players in 2022 play, now is your chance. Rice has been turning heads all summer and spring with his play and has picked up offers from Ole Miss and Boston College before even playing one minute of his freshman year of high school basketball.
