Recruiting Report: Josiah Marable (2019)
Josiah Marable, a 6-foot-9 post prospect from Woodrow Wilson High School, will prep into the 2019 class, per a source. Hargrave Military, Beckley Prep, and National Christian Academy are all reportedly possible destinations for him in the fall. Marable is coming off a productive season, in which he averaged close to a double-double, and won the DCIAA and DCSAA Championships respectively.
“I hear a lot from University of Tennessee Martin, Fairleigh Dickinson University, Virginia Union,” Marable said of his current recruitment. “I’m constantly working on my skills and body. I want to get my body more tone and in shape for the competition a the next level.”
Marable took last summer to work on his agility and conditioning, and the results of his emphasis on fitness were evident throughout the season. His versatility was on display on both ends of the floor. Marable was a threat to score both with his back to the basket and while facing up. He rebounded, and protected the rim at a high level.
“What I learned from this past season is that if you really trust the process and trust the ones around you in your circle you can accomplish anything,” Marable stated. “My IQ is underrated. I think I’m a good passer, and my rebounding ability is often overlooked. I need to work on putting the ball on the floor more. Being able to take other bigs off the dribble from 15, 20 feet away from the basket.”
What can Marable bring to a college program?
“The ability to retain information in a short amount of time, my willingness to win, my work ethic, and my skill set which will only get better as I continue to work.”
Josiah Marable was recently ranked by Prep Hoops as a top-65 player in his graduating class. To view the full ranking of Maryland and DC’s 2018 class, click here.
