Carolina Riptide 15U Off to Hot Start
The Carolina Riptide just came off the 15U championship at the Stay Positive Classic in Greensboro going undefeated. The group played four games and had four different players leading the scoring. We also played one game with everyone scoring but only one player in double figures. They truly are a team-first group of players.
Michael Dulin 6’1 G Phillip O Barry Very athletic, long wing that can apply pressure on the perimeter. As his offensive game improves, he will be one to watch. Right now he is a force on the defensive end and on the boards.
Micah Williams 6’2 G Lexington High Can rebound and score in bunches especially in transition. Has great speed in the open court and can finish in a variety of ways. With work, will can become a very good shooter from the perimeter.
Trace Forest 5’8 G Pine Lake Prep Tough-nosed defender that plays the game the right way. A top notch on the ball defender that understands team defensive concepts. Offensively he is pass first guard always willing to make the right play.
Jermey Newton 6’0 W Lake Norman Charter Does all the dirty work. He rebounds, gets after loose balls, and dives on the floor. Jeremy shoots the ball very well in catch and shoot situations. Always tries to make the right play.
Clay “Smoke” Hodges 5’9 G Lake Norman High Knows how to play the game, and he plays both ends of the floor with a chip. Possesses a team first attitude. He just wants to win.
Warren Thayer 5’9 G Lake Norman High Shoots the ball extremely well in catch and shoot situations. He is a zone buster. Knows how to make himself available for the shot. Continued work on ball handling and Warren has a bright future.
Christian Taylor 6’2 W Lake Norman High Really athletic kid that plays tough as nails. He won’t back down from anyone. A very good offensive rebounder and finisher in transition. With continued work, he could become a really good player.
Aiden Anstead 6’1 G Lake Norman Charter Coming off two severe ankle injuries, Aiden will provide a sharpshooter mentality. With a quick release and deep range, he can score the basketball. Good things are coming.
Callahan Reed 6’0 G Lake Norman Charter Great guard in transition. Sees the floor extremely well making the right pass or the look to score. Very good defender, especially in the half court. Saw time as a varsity starter at Lake Norman Charter this year as a Freshman.
J.T. Harper 6’4 F Pine Lake Prep Tall, young lefty that shoots it well from the perimeter. Can get to the bucket against anyone. Runs the floor with a purpose, and can score in transition. He is a match-up challenge for the opposing team.
Jonas Courtney 6’7 F/C Lake Norman High The man in the middle. Jonas has great hands and footwork. Can score in the post with great back to the basket moves. Alters every shot at the rim. Allows the team to press and gamble knowing Jonas is there to protect. Also has range, and shoots it well from three. Very bright future.
