The Talent: Bishop Kelley vs Mount St. Mary
In the 2018 Hoops for Hope at Bishop Kelley High School, Bishop Kelley started strong against Mount St Mary’s. They found themselves getting out on the break and finishing well at the rim. They dominated inside the paint early on in the game and found their open man inside the paint after good ball movement. Once Cedric Rollerson and Stephon Hall got going for Mount St. Mary they were hard to stop. They came charging back in the third quarter all the way back within two.
The Talent:
Ryan Gendron 2018 Bishop Kelley Guard was huge for the Comets on the night. He took over the game with his athletic ability and finished well at the rim. He forced them to either foul him at the rim or let him finish. When he was fouled he shot well from the charity stripe. Gendron is a strong player that can light up the score sheet. He finished with 14 points on the night. He will be a player to keep an eye on as Bishop Kelley compete in a loaded Class 5A.
Stephon Hall 2018 Mount St Mary Guard was the best player for the Rockets on the night. He was consistently good throughout the game and hit some big time shots. He handled the ball well for the Rockets and took care of the ball. Hall has deep range as well. He hit multiple 25 footers on the night. Hall finished with 20 points for the Rockets on the night. He will be a player that NCAA Division II schools should keep a close eye on.
Bryce Alonso 2018 Bishop Kelley Post was dominant in the first quarter for the Comets. He was strong in the paint and moved the ball fluently from the Post to the open man on the wings. He also showed off some good post moves to finish tough at the rim. Alonso also had an impact on the defensive end of the court grabbing a couple of big blocks for Bishop Kelley. Alonso finished the game with 14 points.
Cedric Rollerson 2019 Mount St Mary was the game changer for the Rockets. His play was limited in the first quarter and part of the second. Once he was back in the game, the Rockets started chipping away at the lead that Bishop Kelley held. Rollerson came in and hit some big 3-pointers. Rollerson was the pivot point for the Mount St Mary offense and provided that spark that they needed. Rollerson finished with a game high 23 points. If Rollerson can continue to play at this level Mount St Mary will be a tough team to beat in Class 3A.
Zach Coffman 2018 Bishop Kelley Guard played his role for Bishop Kelley on the night. On different nights Coffman is asked to star for the Comets with his shooting ability from the perimeter, but he played second fiddle today. He played the part to perfection though. He hit shots when needed and provided for his teammates with some dime passes. Coffman is a player that any coach loves to have because he is all about the team. Whatever the team needs to do to win, Coffman is willing to do it. Coffman finished the game with 13 points.
Anthony Bomprezzi 2018 Bishop Kelley Guard scored the ball well tonight for the Comets. He was not the best player on the court but he performed well for the Comets on the night. Most of his points came from the free-throw line because of Bomprezzi attacking the basket. He was consistent throughout the night and only missed one shot from the charity stripe. He was the top scorer for the Comets on the night with 15 points.
