Post-Grad Spotlight: Quay Adkins (2018)
Quay Adkins (2018), is the motor of the Oklahoma City Storm Prep Team.
“When he’s good, we’re good as a team. Quay has a way of responding during games or practice and doing so with a positive attitude” said Coach Neal of OKC Prep.
Quay has seemingly gone under the radar despite being a National Champion.
Last year Quay played on the National Homeschool Basketball Association’s (NCHBC) 2017 champion, Oklahoma City Storm (high school). He also played AAU for the Oklahoma Rebels during the summer of 2016 and 2017.
This 6’2’’ athletic combo guard not only knows what it looks like to win, but can impact the game on both sides of the ball.
“I like to get myself going from defense and getting my teammates involved” says Quay.
OKC Storm’s head coach, Coach Neal, informed me they are working on him taking more and more responsibilities as a point guard to make him even more dynamic in the backcourt.
Quay currently excels as a slasher and has the most success when he is attacking the rim. He has had very strong showings against Brookhaven Community College (TX), Eastville College (TX), and Sunrise Christian Academy (KS) this year.
So far in the 2017-2018 season, Quay is averaging 16.4 PPG, 4 APG, and 4 RPG and what doesn’t show up on the stat sheet is his intensity on the defensive end and ability to set the tone for the team.
Quay does not have any college interest at the moment but wants to be in a place that he is wanted and to that he has the opportunity everyday to get better.
Coach Neal is confident that something will come through for him as he is a very hard worker on and off the court, a gym rat, and remains one of the most coachable players he has, which is a mindset that will succeed.
