Bedouin Shrine Tournament: Jenks Trojans
Jenks proved tonight that they could win in a tightly contested game with Providence(Ark). Both teams struggled at the beginning of the game, but it was Jenks that found their rhythm first. They jumped out to a 13-4 advantage after the first quarter. After the first quarter it was a game of runs though. After halftime Providence came out on fire. They erased the halftime deficit in a matter of minutes. It was then that the Trojans went on their next run that proved to be the vital run in the game. They stretched their lead back to nine and forced the Arkansas team to foul Jenks down the stretch. Jenks beat Providence(Ark) 43-34 to advance to the finals of the Bedouin Shrine Tournament.
Much Improved
Jenks showed tonight that their start to the season does not prove how good they could be. They played with a toughness and grit that they seemed to lack in the beginning of the season. They improved greatly from the beginning of the season when they struggled to find themselves in games. They will look to build off the success they have had in this tournament to springboard them going forward.
Defense… Defense… Defense
Defense wins championships, that is the saying, but Jenks is trying to put this theory to the test in the Bedouin Shrine Tournament. They played tough, scrappy defense throughout the game. They forced Providence to take bad, contested shots. Eli Harris 2018 Jenks Guard led by example and forced turnovers throughout the night. He played a solid game on both sides of the ball and finished the game with 8 points. Jenks will look to put their defense to the test against a Muskogee team that scores points in bunches in the championship game at the Bedouin Shrine Tournament.
Free Throws
Blake Seacat 2019 Jenks Forward capped the game off with a pair of free throws towards the end of the game. Seacat had a solid game for Jenks and finished with a game-high 10 points. Despite hitting the game clinching free throws Seacat and Jenks struggled from the charity stripe. They shot 10-18 from the line in the second half and could have wrapped up the game minutes earlier if they would have been able to hit their free throws.
