First Month Review: Charlotte’s Top Performers PC:Charlotte Observer
In this article we are taking a look at the top performers in the Charlotte area so far this season. The Queen City is known as a basketball hotbed around the state and always has it’s fair share of college recruits.
Wendell MooreWendell Moore (2019, W) Cox Mill HS-Moore has played with a “chip” on his shoulder to start this season and has his Cox Mill High School team off to an undefeated season with wins against some of the top teams in the state. He recently narrowed his list to a top 10 and has Duke and North Carolina in it.
Donovan Gregory (2019, W) Carmel Christian-Gregory has seen a jump in his recruitment over the past month with his strong play in front of national media at The Holiday Hoopsgiving in Atlanta, Georgia. He has started to garner the attention of colleges in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Big 12 and the Atlantic 10.
Devon Dotson (2018, PG) Providence Day-The Chargers have played one of the toughest schedules in the country and just recently returned home from a trip to China that included a game against Montverde (FL) Academy and #1 2019 RJ Barrett. Dotson has been steady at the point guard position and has shown what he will bring to Kansas next season, which is a scoring point guard that can get others involved.
MJ Armstrong (2018, SG) Gaston Day-On a roster that already has two mid-major signees, Armstrong has been scoring the ball at a high-major pace. He scored 31 points against Spartanburg Day on Tuesday night. He is one of the best shooters in the state and can play at the rim when attacking the lane. He is a steady defender with all of the tools to be a Division One prospect.
Jairus Hamilton (2018, F) Cannon School-The unsigned Hamilton had one of his best games recently against PrepHoopsNC’s #1 private school Greensboro Day as he scored 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the upset win for Cannon School.
