Weekend Preview: Scrimmage Schedules
There are a lot of scrimmages going down across the Commonwealth this weekend. Many of the state’s top teams will be in action as they tune up for their regular season openers in a little less than two weeks. Here’s a quick preview of some of the weekend’s action.
“Battle for the City” (Friday @ 7:30 at Old Male High School) – Fern Creek vs Aspire Academy. Last year’s final 4 team takes on the new prep school based out of Louisville. Creek has a big advantage at the guard spots with Samford signee Anthony Wales and Ahmad Price while Aspire has a major size advantage down low with top 2019 post player Charles Bassey. Tickets are $15.
Fayette County Hoop-O-Rama (All Day Saturday) – Featuring all 5 of the Lexington public schools and Lexington Catholic taking on teams from outside the city. Admission is only $5 for a full day of games.
10:00: Super Sophomore Amari Taylor and Tates Creek take on Frankfort High School
11:45: Justin Mitchell and the brand new Fredrick Douglass High School take on Zan Payne, TC Price and Lexington Catholic.
1:30: Eric Boone and Terrance Clayton-Murphy square off against Whitley County
3:00: Eric Powell, Ray Surratt and their Lafayette teammates go head to head with Dalton Perkins, Leevi Dunaway and the Mason County Royals.
4:45: Junior Keaston Brown leads Henry Clay into battle against JJ Reed and Paducah Tilghman.
6;30: Host Paul Laurence Dunbar takes on Louisville Central in the evening’s finale.
The King of the Bluegrass Jamboree (All Day Saturday) takes place at Fairdale High School and features teams from all over the state.
10:30: Freshman TJ Toney and North Bullitt go up against Sam Conley and Spencer County.
12:00: Whitefield Academy take on Jamison Epps, Lez Means and Marion County.
1:30: Perennial 7th region contender Eastern face off with 8th region foe North Oldham.
3:00: Host school Fairdale faces recent Wright State commit Skyelar Potter and his Warren Central team.
4:30: Louisville Iroquois goes to battle against Gallatin County.
6:00: A battle of small schools as Desales takes on Campbellsville
7:30: The night cap features a clash between Kentucky Country Day and 3rd Region contender Daviess County.
