What to keep an eye on moving forward?
The biggest thing to keep an eye on is the adjustment process of the Hornets. They have two big things that have changed from a year ago. First, RJ Fuqua not running the show at the Point Guard position changes things big time. The Hornets don’t have a true Point Guard which is a huge change from Fuqua. Players will have to adjust to having a different type of Point Guard on the floor. The players most impacted by this change will be Seth Hurd in the Post and Forward Jaycson Bereal. It will be interesting to see how the Hornets adjust over the year to maximize their talent on the court.
The man that will be making those adjustments is new head coach Conley Phipps. The history of Coach Phipps success is long. He knows what he is doing. The talent that Coach Phipps has to work with has me excited to see what he will do with this team to this season. The biggest thing for people to remember is to give Booker T. Washington time to reach their max potential in March when it matters the most.

What were your thoughts on how things went at the Elite 14?
“I felt like there were a lot of positives from Saturday. We were better than in our first scrimmage that’s always a plus. Obviously, the goal is to constantly improve. On the other side of that we are still making some of the same mistakes we were making in October, so we are trying to make those corrections before the season starts.”
What are the biggest things you feel Booker T. Washington needs to work on?
“We have a lot of room to improve defensively also the decision making by our guys when they have the ball needs to get better. We have gotten better in those two areas, but we are not where we need to be. We are very fortunate to have several guys that can score so getting them to see how it all needs to fit together is a constant process. They are unselfish kids and very coachable and they have bought in so we will get there.”
