Prospect Spotlight: Mike Meadows (2018)
Each and every season there are a host of senior prospects that explode during their senior campaign to garner a bevy of college interest—and Mike Meadows (North Hollywood/Campbell Hall) appears to be on that particular track.
The 6-foot-1 combo-guard who has the ability to play both guard positions has shown the ability to manage the game as well as exhibit his greatest strength, that being his shooting.
“I would say my jump shot as well as the ability to run a team are my greatest strengths.”
Recently the sharp shooting Meadows dropped 47-points on Maranatha in a fall league game and doing it in a variety of ways. “I can definitely score, but my ability to control the game from the lead guard position and keep my teammates calm during stressful moments of the game standout to me.”
Meadows should be a hot commodity during the regular season due to his shooting prowess and savvyAlthough Meadows can put up big numbers, he still knows that there are areas of the game he needs to improve upon. “Definitely getting stronger is one of my goals. The AAU season (playing against the best players) taught me that I need to get stronger to penetrate and finish against physical defenders,” explains Meadows.
Just by talking to Meadows it is clear to me that he has the mindset and the passion to be a college level point guard. He has natural leadership abilities as well as a calm demeanor. If strength is the determining factor why college coaches are not recruiting Meadows, that issue can be taken care of with a college-level weight program.
Navy has offered and Meadows has heard from Seattle, Cal Poly, as well as most recently Montana.
If Meadows has the season that some of us are projecting, he should be able to bag one of these coveted Division 1 scholarships.
