Holiday Hoopsgiving Gym 2 Names To Know
Josh Price (Carmel Christian)-
He may not put up huge numbers, but you have to appreciate the way Price plays and what he does for the Carmel Christian team. Price, a Liberty signee, is an efficient shooter, hitting multiple 3’s in both games at Hoopsgiving. He also knows how to run a team; he orchestrates Carmel’s offense and makes sure everyone gets involved. Price made an impact on defense as well, staying active and getting deflections. He just keeps things simple and makes winning plays, which will really help him in college.
Kennedy Willis (St. Pius)-
Willis showed a lot of promise and potential when I watched him this summer, and that was on display again this past weekend. The Golden Lions dominated Greenforest to start the game, and Willis produced early and often. He used his length and touch to convert in the paint, and was an active rebounder as well. A nice trait about Willis is that he does not overdo things down low; he puts himself in the right position and does not waste time in making his move to score. He will be one to track throughout the winter.
Nick Edwards (Grayson)-
Edwards is a key piece on a very talented Grayson team, and had some impressive moments against Warner Robins. After a fairly slow start to the game, Edwards picked things up in the 2nd half and was all over the place. He finished with 14 points, 6 assists, 2 steals, and made numerous plays around the basket that caught everyone’s attention. Edwards, Travis Anderson, and Reco Hallmon form a dangerous backcourt trio for Grayson; all 3 of them will need to stay in attack mode this year.
Jacolbey Owens (Warner Robins)-
Owens is a guy who produces every time I see him, but he still gone somewhat overlooked when it comes to recruiting. Once Nelson Phillips went to the bench with fouls in the first half, Owens stepped up and made big plays. He connected from deep, distributed the ball, and excelled in the open court as usual. His speedy, aggressive play style is one that you love to watch and one that gets results for his team. Owens should start to hear from more schools soon.
Garrett Shrader (Charlotte Christian)-
I don’t think anyone I saw at Hoopsgiving played with more energy than Shrader. It seemed like whenever he was in, Shrader was making a positive impact on the game. He put up numbers of 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists in 19 minutes played. Shrader has a strong, athletic build that overwhelmed his opponents at times. He thrived under contact, grabbing physical rebounds and seeking out bodies inside on offense. His toughness was a major part in Charlotte Christian’s win over Pebblebrook.
