The Patriots took a 20-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Eagles came back in the second quarter to cut the Patriots lead to 33-31 at halftime.
The Patriots were led by Vince Cole with nine points in the first half. The Eagles were led by Stephen Edoka with 13 points in the first half.
The Patriots went on a 13 point run to expand the lead to 54-33. The Patriots never let up until the final whistle was blown and the final score was 80-58 win.
MVP: Jaron Williams (2018)(Picture on the front)
Williams who scored a game-high 25 points and took control of the game inside and outside the paint. Williams had several block shots on the night. Williams signed with Longwood University during the early signing period.
Play of the Game: The Patriots run to start the second half
The Patriots went on a 13-0 run after being tied early in the 3rd quarter at 33-33.
Defensive Player of the Game: Vince Cole (2018) and DJ Burns (2019)
Cole had five steals that started the run in the third quarter. Cole was constantly stalking his opponent
Burns was all over the glass with a team-high 11 rebounds for the Patriots.
Intangibles: Stephen Edoka (2018)
Edoka is in his second season with the Eagles. Edoka a 6’5 combo guard is originally from Nigeria. Edoka can shoot from anywhere on the floor.
Edoka finished the night with a team high 21 points.
Best Underclassmen: Jacobi Wright (2021)
Wright a point guard finished the night with 11 points for the Patriots.
Best Guy off the Bench: Dericko Williams (2019) and Daniel Bateman (2018)
Williams 6’8 man-child is a transfer from Kinston HS (NC). Williams a big-time football prospect scored just 4 points tonight in limited action.
Daniel Bateman a 6’4 lefty forward transferred in from South Forsyth HS (GA) this year. Bateman played limited minutes in the game and hit a three point from the corner.
Best Project: Cheick Tiaore (2020) Concord First Assembly
Tiaore 6’8 forward hails from the the Ivory Coast, Africa. Tiaore had several blocks and would create issues for players coming into the paint. Tiaore altered shots on several occasions tonight.
Takeaway
York Prep is not short on talent at all. Two former Columbia, SC area kids on the roster Deuce Dean (2019) contributed 10 points and 9 assists in the victory. Former Blythewood player Savion Dawkins saw limited action.
