Team Preview : WestRidge Academy
Prep Hoops SC and Swanny’s Roundball Review took in all the action yesterday at the Flight 22 Prep Showcase in Greensboro, NC. Prep Hoops will take a look at a very talented high school program in WestRidge Academy.
WestRidge Academy last season operated under the name Forest Trail Academy. The Golden Knights are coached by Antonio Lowe. WestRidge Academy is located in Kernersville, NC.
Steven Randle is back in the 2018 class now according to Coach Lowe. Randle who is ranked #25 in the 2019 North Carolina Class has improved very much over the past year. Randle has shown to be consistent from 10-12 feet on the floor. Randle 6’8 is a constant double-double guy on the floor.
Issac LeCompte (2018) was a pleasant surprise here today. LeCompte 6’4 is a above the rim athlete that finished on several dunks today for the Golden Knights. LeCompte attended Design-Lab HS in Newark, DE last season. LeCompte played AAU with Team Final Black.
Caleb Burgess (2019) had little problems getting to the rack today with the ball. The shifty guard Burgess is quick end to end with the ball. Burgess played this summer with Big Shots North Carolina 2019 with Randle.
Zach Shumate (2019) hit several shots on the perimeter today along with it seemed taking charges on command. Shumate took 4 charges today with Prep Hoops watching him play. Shumate 6’7 played last season at Wilkes Central HS in Wilkesboro, NC. Shumate played the Charlotte Royals last summer on the AAU Circuit.
Javarzia Belton (2019) arrived at WestRidge Academy this summer after playing at Calhoun Falls Charter in South Carolina last season. Belton 6’10 has received scholarship offers from College of Charleston, East Carolina University and UNLV this fall according to Lowe. Belton averaged 20.5 ppg, 12.4 rebounds and 4,9 blocks last season for the Blue Flashes.
The Golden Knights will be playing later this month on Saturday October 28, 2017 in Swanny’s Jamboree in Myrtle Beach, SC. The event will feature 32 teams and all games will be played the Myrtle Beach Sports Center.
