Prospect Spotlight: Devaunte Robinson (2019)
Devaunte Robinson is 6’3 guard from Ashland Blazer High School in Ashland, KY. A young team, Ashland went 13-19 last season, falling just short of a 64th District championship, losing to Boyd County 53-60. As a sophomore, Robinson averaged 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. He also shot just below 50% from the field. “Last season went o.k. for me (individually). I think I got better and my shot got more consistent,” Said Robinson.
Robinson’s game can be described as one who is capable of getting to the basket and finishing on contact, as well as one who can knock down the mid-range jump shot with some consistency.
This summer, Devaunte played with Charlotte Court (Ivery). “Summer ball went really well! I got better and stronger throughout the summer season.” He spent most of the summer working on becoming a better catch-and-shoot shooter. “Throughout the season, my pull-up jump shot became really good and hard to guard because I’m so long, so I’ve also kept working on that.”
Going into his junior season, Robinson hopes to make Ashland a district and regional contender. “Individually, I’d really like to push the stat line of averaging 15 points and 10 rebounds per game.”
He has a couple more seasons to decide on a college, but Robinson said he is looking for a college that likes to push the tempo and get up and down the court. “A program with a great family atmosphere in and outside of basketball would be great, too.”
Robinson is currently claiming interest from Morehead State and Belmont. “A few other schools have been showing interest here and there.”
