Hopkins Commits to Seattle
News broke on Sunday with the top player in the state of Oklahoma, Trey Hopkins committing to Seattle.
Hopkins once upon a time a Boise State commit reopened his recruitment and decided to stay on the west coast. The west coast has always intrigued Hopkins growing up.
“I just love it up there,” said Hopkins. “I really think I can help them get to that next level and it just felt right. Seattle has everything I want.”
Hopkins was able to create a great relationship with the coaches on staff in a short time. He visited Seattle two weeks ago on an official visit and was sold.
“The coaches and players were in a big part in making it feel like home,” said Hopkins. “I have always talked about living in Seattle growing up.”
Hopkins is a 6’4 Wing with great athleticism and upside. He can score the ball at all three levels.
Looking forward to his college career at Seattle, one goal of Hopkins is to take Seattle to the NCAA Tournament. He has an Oklahoma connection with Dashawn Mcdowell playing in Seattle currently. Mcdowell went to Southeast high school committing to SMU out of high school but transferred following his freshmen season to Seattle. The Oklahoma connection will help Hopkins adjust to the move out to the west coast.
Hopkins now turns his eyes to his senior season at Carl Albert. The Titans are coming off a heartbreaking loss in the state tournament.
“My senior year goals are for me to keep my rankings spot,” said Hopkins. “Become a true leader and take y team to another ring.”
