CAAC White: Players To Watch
The CAAC White was pretty competitive last season, but a few guys stole the show and are back for the 2017-18 season. Here are a few players you should get out and watch this year.
Sean Cobb (Williamston, 2019)
Cobb is ranked as Prep Hoops’ No. 13 prospect in the state of Michigan for the class of 2019. The 6-foot-6 junior has been receiving a ton of interest from D-1 schools around the country and this comes as no surprise, given the fact that he is a phenomenal rebounder and shooter. He is the definition of a glass eater. His bread and butter is getting down low in the paint and battling for rebounds. Howerver, the scariest part about Cobb is the fact that he can step out and shoot too. So while defenders are worried about him in the paint, he’s just as dangerous out on the wing.
Cole Kleiver (Williamston, 2018)
It’s safe to say Williamston will be really good this season. They won the CAAC White last season, and Kleiver was a big reason why. Kleiver is ranked as Prep Hoops’ No. 74 prospect in the state of Michigan for the class of 2018 and has a chance to be the top scorer in the league this year. He scored 35 points in a District Final win over Haslett last season and showed that he can go off at any given moment. Kleiver’s ability to space the floor and knock down shots from beyond the arc should lead Williamston to another conference title in 2017-18.
Brady Swinehart (Ionia, 2019)
Swinehart is a little underrated because his team isn’t that great. Ionia finished last in the CAAC White last season, but Swinehart had a great year. He’s ranked as the No. 54 prospect in the state of Michigan for the class of 2019 and shouldn’t be overlooked. He’s one of the better defenders in the conference, as he averaged over two steals per game last season, but he can score too. He had plenty of 20-plus point games last season and his ability to defend and score the ball should get him more attention. I expect Ionia to take steps forward this year, but it all starts with Swinehart and his ability to play well on both ends of the court.
Bobby Brandsen (Portland, 2019)
As you can see, the CAAC White has some good talent. Brandsen is another player that can shoot the lights out. Like Kleiver, Brandsen can go off at any moment and must be accounted for at all times. One of the more underrated aspects of his game is his ability to get to the basket. He is a great shooter, but that has allowed him to get to the basket. One pump fake from Brandsen can get a defender in the air and he’s at the basket getting an easy two points. Portland was a middle of the pack team last season, but could surprise some people this year.
