CAAC Red Top Seniors
The CAAC Red lost a lot of talent from last season, but does have a few seniors that can make some noise this year. Here are three seniors to keep an eye on this season.
Tanner Reha (DeWitt)
Ranked as the No. 31 prospect in the state of Michigan, Reha is a physically imposing guard that anyone would have trouble guarding. One thing you’ll notice right away from watching him play is that he’s not afraid to shoot and for good reason. Reha is an excellent shooter that can knock down heavily contested jumpers with ease. The 6-foot-5 Northwood commit is great at rising over defenders and getting his shot off, but getting to the basket is something he’s gotten better at. While his shooting ability is his best skill, driving and cutting take him to the next level. He’s great at coming off of screens and using them to make plays for himself and his teammates. Reha is the best player in the CAAC Red.
Luke Hyde (DeWitt)
Like Reha, Hyde is a top 50 player in the state of Michigan for the class of 2018. The 6-foot-6 big man is great in the pick and roll and can finish really well at the rim. He’s one of the better low-post scorers in the entire conference. He doesn’t step outside much, but he can knock down mid-range jumpers and 3-pointers if the defense gives him space. Reha and Hyde are two of the best players in the state, and if you cover one, the other will make you pay in a big way. DeWitt should be favored to win the CAAC Red and could make some noise in the postseason.
Tevin Ali (Waverly)
Reha and Hyde will get a lot of attention this season, but Ali will put up big numbers. When the 6-foot-6 big man is driving down the lane, you better get out of the way because he is a vicious dunker. Ali’s bread and butter is posting up and making a move to get to the basket. He’s a true post player that can step out and knock down a mid-range jumper if needed. He uses his length really well to block shots and grab rebounds and makes getting into the paint hard for opposing teams. If Ali can develop a better outside jumper, he could be unguardable.
