Blacksher is one of the most skilled passers in the state. Further, he is one of, if not the, best passers when coming off of on ball screens. He is extremely patient and makes great reads off of the screens. Blacksher is exceptional at finding the posts when he drives as well.
Conner Verdugo 6’0 PG 2018 Walden Grove
Walden Grove moves the basketball extremely well. However, Verdugo is crucial to this. He shares the basketball extremely well and it makes it contagious. The basketball rarely sticks to his hands. Further, he hits his teammates on time and on target which ups their shooting percentages.
Caden Hoffman 5’11 PG 2018 Rancho Solano
Hoffman does a great job of getting the basketball moving side to side and can hurt defenses with his passing in a lot of ways. He does a good job of attacking the paint and finding the corners. Further, he has shown an aptitude for making great reads off of on-ball screens. He should have a big year statistically with extra help coming in with Nikc Jackson transferring.
Tashon Brown 6’0 PG/SG 2018 Paradise Valley
Brown has a good stop and start to his game which allows him to get into the paint. Brown finishes well in the paint and see finds his teammates. Moreover, he hits ahead well and finds his teammates. Brown has good court vision which helps his teammates be successful.
Addison Mort 6’3 SG 2018 The Gregory School
Mort had the luxury of having a big time shooter on his team last year. If there was ever any help, he did a nice job of rotating the basketball and making the help side pay. It will be interesting to see if Mort’s assist numbers stay the same as he is relied upon to be a bigger scoring threat going forward.
Jaelen House 6’1 PG 2019 Shadow Mountain
House has a great basketball IQ and does a good job of getting his teammates involved early in the game. However, when the game is on the line, he has the clutch gene and wants to take matters into his own hands. Needless to say, he does this extremely well. He has a knack for making big time plays when big time plays are needed.
Nico Mannion 6’1 PG 2020 Pinnacle
For those hoping the Mannion maxed out as a freshman: Bad news. He has gotten better and even more elusive. In addition, he has great change of pace and direction on his ball handling moves. His ability to freeze the defense creates help situations. His passing and scoring abilities go hand and hand as they put a tremendous amount of pressure on the second level.
Isaiah Marin 6’2 PG 2019 Copper Canyon
Marin had an outstanding year this past season. Further, he followed it up with some solid play over the summer. While playing in the Prep Hoops high school tournament in Utah, college coaches were raving about his mixture of scoring and passing abilities. Much like Mannion, his duel threat abilities make him extremely dangerous.
Dominic Mooney 6’0 PG 2018 Buena
Mooney flat out plays bully basketball. He is quick and strong which enables him to enforce his will on the opposing defender. When he gets into the paint, he makes the right read. He has a nice mid-range jumper and finishes well at the rim. However, he is an under-rated passer who does a good job of finding his teammates on these attacks.
Eli Childs 5’11 PG 2018 Dysart
Childs has had the benefit of playing with a couple of talented post players. Further, his ability to maximize the post touches has resulted in a lot of assists. He plays his role as the pass first point guard extremely well. He manages the tempo and puts his guys in spots where they can be successful.
