Region Preview: 6A East Valley
The East Valley has a lot of talented prospects and some of the best coaches in the state. This group consistently competes for state championships. It will be fun to watch how this group stacks up with a really talented 6A group. Further, here is our 6A East Valley region preview
6A East Valley: Top 3
1. Red Mountain
Red Mountain’s key to success won’t be the players we already know but the inexperienced guys who will play new roles. Timmy Allen and Dre Harris are big time prospects. Allen, a recent Utah commit, will be the go to player on the team. Further, Harris, who has multiple NCAA Division-I offers, will take care of business in the paint. However, the question that is looming is whether or not the guards can do take care of business and get these two involved. If they can find the guard play, this team will be really solid.
2. Mesa
Two years ago, the Hatch brothers led Mesa to a state championship. Now, Mark Hatch is running the show with a new running-mate, Zach Hobbs. Along with Hatch is a really solid group of 2019 prospects who will play huge roles for the squad this upcoming season. In addition to the talent, Mesa is extremely well coached. Coach Burcar has very little for lack of effort and intensity. His coaching style is directly reflected in how his team competes and performs.
3. Mountain View
Despite being the youngest player on the varsity team team last year, Zach Lyons made a name for himself. Mountain View is loaded with talent and always well coached. Although they always have big senior classes, Mountain View always reloads instead of rebuilding. Lyons will be a crucial part of whatever success this team has this season. Although there are a lot of unknowns, these guys always find a way to compete at a high level.
