Continue ReadingDavis High School has a rich history when it comes to basketball. That success will most likely continue under the guidance of two 2019 prospects who played significant minutes last season as Sophomores. Brenden Redford is one of those sophomores. He will look to play a key role for Davis this upcoming season.
Brendon Redford High School
Over the summer, Redford played extremely well. His versatility made him a game changer. He has good footwork on the block and a solid drop step. However, he is capable of playing on the perimeters as well.
Although a solid performance this summer should not surprise anyone due to the success he had in the season, it is a good sign for Davis. Redford looked primed and ready to play a big role, which will most certainly be required of him this year.
Despite having a role on the varsity team last year, he understands that his experience means much more will be expected of him. One of the things he noted is that he will be responsible for “scoring and creating for my teammates”. Further, he expects that he will be a captain and be relied on in a leadership capacity.
As far as what he feels that he brings to a program, he stated “leadership and high energy”. He takes pride in “making my teammates better”. These will be important traits for Redford to maintain and improve in order for Davis to reach their optimal potential. In addition, he has been putting in a lot of work this off-season. He stated that he has been working on his “jump shot and decision making”.
In addition to being a stud at Davis, Redford participates with West Elite for club basketball. This experience has undoubtedly made him better and more prepared for this season due to the talented competition that they played. He also noted that in addition to being great for development that he enjoyed the opportunity to “play against other guys” who are from out of state.
Brendon Redford College Interest
As far as colleges are concerned, Redford noted that he has received interest from “Utah State and Weber [State]”. Although he has received interest from two NCAA Division-I schools, he has not received any offers to this point.
Redford has certainly opened the door for himself to be recruited at multiple levels. He is a “3.4” GPA student and would like to go into “architecture” or something similar to it.
Although he has interest in specific academic programs, he noted that he primarily wants to go to a school that has a “good athletic program”. Further, part of that is that the program must have “good coaches”.
Redford is capable of playing the 3-5 at the high school level. However, if he is hoping to make his game more applicable to the college level, he will need to continue to work on his ability to shoot the basketball from 3 and mid-range. With that said, he has been putting in the work and is ready to have a big season.
