Best of the Best: Three Point Shooters
With the school year well under way and football in full swing, we are getting closer and closer to the start of the prep basketball season. As we get closer and closer to the November 30th start date in Ohio, it is time to turn attention to the regular season. And it is this reason that Prep Hoops will begin its preview of the 2017-18 regular season in the Greater Cincinnati area. So today we begin those previews with our Best of the Best series, starting with three- point shooters. Here is the best of best when it comes to guys who can fill it up from deep.
Jarett Cox- G/Lakota East High School (2018)
Known for his scoring, the Fairmont State commit is also one of the deadlier three-point shooters in the tri-state area. Cox shot 41% from the three-last season which was good enough for 9th in the Greater Miami Conference while his 102 attempts were 5th in the conference. Not only can Jarett shoot the three but he can shoot it with range as well.
Joey Edmonds- PG/Wyoming High School (2019)
The Cowboys junior showed off his outstanding shooting abilities for the talented Cincinnati Lakers 16U team this past summer. Last season this talented junior lead the Cincinnati Hills League with 144 3-point attempts while finishing third in the conference in percentage at 42.4%. Edmonds currently holds two offers at the D-II level from the University of Findlay and Fairmont State.
Zach Harp- G/Elder High School (2018)
A very talented shooter with a very quick release that can really shoot it from deep. Finished 3rd in the talented Greater Catholic League in attempts from three with 125 while shooting 36.8%. Harp is also a very good shooter off one or two dribbles as well and at 6’3 can get his shot off easily against smaller guards.
Darweshi Hunter- G/Princeton High School (2018)
Another member on this list who is more known as scorer but who is more than capable of knocking three-pointers at a high rate. Last season Hunter shot 39% from the land of three on 118 attempts. Darweshi is another shooter on our list who is also a very good shooter off the dribble. The talented senior currently has offers from NAIA University of the Cumberland’s (KY) along with offers from D-II Assumption College (MA) and LIU Post (NY). Hunter also on Friday took an unofficial visit and also had a team workout with Navy.
Dwayne Rosado- G/Hughes Center High School (2018)
This young man has the best shot preparation in the city, and it has helped him become arguably the best shooter in the city. Last year Rosado finished 4th in the conference in attempts (109) while shooting 46.8% from three- point range. Definitely a player coaches at the D-II/NAIA/JUCO or D-III level need to be paying attention too.
