Best of the Best: Rebounders
We’ve given you the three-point shooters, scorers and passer but now it is time to talk about the glass-cleaners. Those who make sure not only that clean up the defensive boards, but also make sure that their teams get extra possessions on the offensive end. This like the previous Best of the Best articles is full of talented players who will be able to help a program at the next level. So here is the Best of the Best: Rebounders.
Jackson Ames/ West Clermont High School (2020)
There is a new kid on the block in the Eastern Cincinnati Conference in West Clermont High School, combination of what used to be Amelia and Glen Este high schools. And the Wolves bring with them one of the best big men in the state in Mr. Ames. Ranked 26th in the class of 2020 in the state, Ames stands 6’10 with very good hands and has good mobility. With Ames manning the middle expect the Wolves to be a problem for the next couple of years.
Ibrahima Athie/ Deer Park High School (2019)
One of the more versatile, athletic guards/wings in the city of Cincinnati. Athie is the leading returning rebounder in the Cincinnati Hills League at 10 per game. His ability to rebound and push on his own will be an asset to what could be a really good Wildcats team this upcoming season.
Darius Bazley/ Princeton High School (2018)
The leading returning rebounder per game in the Greater Miami Conference at 10.1, what else can we say that hasn’t already been said this summer?
Terry Durham/ Woodward High School (2018)
“The Smooth Lefty” as he is known at Woodward can also be a very rugged customer in the paint as well. Standing 6’3 and weighing 230, Durham has great athleticism along with great hands and is very relentless on the offensive boards. Terry is the leading returning rebounder in the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference at 10.7 per game and is the 88th ranked player in Ohio in his class.
Jaxson Hayes/ Archbishop Moeller High School (2018)
There is a reason why this young man is the fastest rising recruit in the country. Hayes combination of length and athleticism is about as good as it gets in the country. You combine the before mentioned attributes with good hands all of which make Hayes a glass cleaner. Jaxson is expected to make his college decision today with the final five being Xavier, Georgetown, Butler, Kentucky and Texas.
Bryce Hunt/ Reading High School (2018)
Energetic and high motor are just a few of the ways to describe this ultra-talented performer for the Blue Devils. Standing at 6’7, Hunt goes after every rebound with aggression and has the strength to play the five in a small line-up situation. Bryce is the 37th ranked player in Ohio in the class of 2018.
Abba Lawal/ Withrow High School (2019)
Back in the Cincinnati area after leaving Ohio for a year, Lawal made big news a few weeks back with his transfer from Walnut Hills to Withrow. Standing 6’11, Lawal should provide immediate dividends for the Tigers with his rebounding ability.
