West Coast Elite End of Summer Camp: The Class of 2018
TORRANCE, Ca. – The senior class was well represented during the West Coast Elite End of Summer Camp at El Camino College Sunday.
Two of the players in attendance at the Ryan Silver-fronted event have already decided upon the programs that they will be signing national letters of intent with in November.
And 6-foot-3 Payton Moore (bound for Rice) and 6-6 Rip Economou (Seattle) demonstrated why the Santa Monica High Vikings should be among the better teams in Southern California during the 2017-18 season.
Here are 10 more standouts from the Class of 2018 that were on display Sunday:
Top Five
Elijah Harkless (6-2/Etiwanda)
He’s going to have a strong senior season – largely because he is so strong, off the drive and on his way to the rim. His jump shot needs to be more reliable
Brendan Harrick (6-5/Anaheim Esperanza)
He was one of the three best players at the camp, regardless of class-standing or size. His jump shot is dependable from deep and he’s an authoritative finisher over defenders. He’s one of the best half-dozen seniors in Orange County.
Regan Lundeen (6-6/Santa Ana Mater Dei)
Lundeen was solid from the perimeter and from along the baseline and inside the lane. He had to leave before the top all-star game was played. He’s just another reason why Mater Dei is the best team in the West.
Alpha Okoli (6-4/Bellflower St. John Bosco)
His eligibility for his senior season is still to be determined (it’s complicated). But, if in uniform for the Braves, he’ll be an all-Trinity League performer and perhaps an all-Southern Section choice as well this season.
Hunter Woods (6-6/Pasadena Muir)
The left hander’s jump shot has always been his calling card but he’s becoming better off the dribble now, as he showed Sunday.
Next Five
Pharoh Allah (6-5/Panorama City St. Genevieve); Austin Gallupo (6-6/Stevenson Ranch West Ranch); Caleb Christopher (6-1/Lakewood Mayfair); Lucas Holden (6-6/Anaheim Canyon) and Ezekiel Richards (6-11/Oak Park).
