Shift Team: 2019 Prospects
As stated in the previous installment of “Shift Team,” not all good ball-handlers are shifty. Here I’ve informed you of several prospects that fit the mold and bring several other highly coveted skills to a basketball team.
Marcus Harrison – 5’9” G – Southern Vance High School
This guard at first glance may not pass the eye test, but he’s a certified scoring machine. Very crafty off the dribble creating his own shot against players much larger than he is. Once he gets going, he could easily go for 30+ against any opponent with his combination on handles, shooting ability and his motor. Also an exceptional rebounder for a player his size. Very interesting prospect with his combination on skill and production.
Anthony Harris – 6’1” PG – Havelock High School
Every team nowadays is looking for players that can it a bit of everything. Harris fits that mold. He’s a point guard, but he rebounds exceptionally well, defends at a high level (3 steals and 1 block per game) and he scores the ball pretty well. Won’t be shocked if he reaches (or comes close) to triple double territory a few times this upcoming season.
Jalen Benjamin – 5’10” PG – Leesville Road High School
Be sure to write this name down in your notes. He’ll more than likely be one of the top scorers in the state as a junior this up-coming season. His ability to shift his whole body from side to side with the ball makes him a tough cover even when guarded by much larger guards. He also possesses great court vision. All in all, he flat out can score the ball with the best of them.
James Richardson – 6’1” G – Ayden-Grifton High School
When in attack mode, Richardson is a load to handle. He gets to the rim at will in transition and in halfcourt sets. With his size and athleticism, he has the potential to be a dynamic two player. A consistent three-point shot away from being virtually unstoppable at times. Be sure to keep a look out for him this season.
