Same Face, New Place (Part 3)
In anticipation of the upcoming high school season, we will be taking a closer look at various teams and players throughout DC, Maryland, and Virginia. In this edition we’ll be covering transfers, and the type of impact we believe each player could make with their new team.
JAY HEATH | WOODROW WILSON ’20
Jay Heath and Ayinde Hikim will team up to form one of the most dynamic back courts in the DMV under Head Coach Angelo Hernandez for the defending DCIAA Champs. The 6’3 combo guard is a proven three level scorer who plays very hard, and locks down defensively.
JOEY LEE | BISHOP IRETON ’19
We’ve seen a bit of what Joey Lee could bring to Woodson during summer league, and we expect more of the same throughout the regular season. The rising junior, who ran with 6th Man Warriors this summer, is a reliable floor general who likes to get in the lane, create, and can knock down a shot if left open.
JUSTIN LEWIS | POLY ’20
Justin Lewis will serve a vital role for Poly defensively inside as a shot blocker. One thing that Dre Perry did that could have been underrated was protect the rim. With Perry now off to Temple, Lewis will be expected to fill some of that void, and he should do just fine. The long limbed 6’7 rising sophomore continues to show signs of improvement all across the board.
MEKHI LONG | MASSANUTTEN MILITARY ACADEMY ’19
One of the hardest working wings we’ve seen, Mekhi Long will team up with Kiyon Boyd under Head Coach Chad Myers at Massanutten. The 6’7 rising junior can make tough shots off the dribble, and is difficult to keep out of the lane. One thing we like about Long is that he takes pride in defending just as well in the paint as he does on the perimeter.
QUENTIN MILLORA-BROWN | SOUTH COUNTY ’18
The addition of Quentin Millora-Brown, considered to be one of the most feared shot blockers in the WCAC, almost automatically makes South County a favorite in their district, region, and possibly the state. The 6’9 big man has improved considerably on offense, and will look to use this opportunity to grow his leadership skills.
