Skyelar Potter is a 6’3 shooting guard from Warren Central High School in Bowling Green, KY. Last season, he helped lead the Dragons to a 17-14 overall record, falling just short of a district run in the first round of the 14th District tournament, an overtime loss to Greenwood. “Last season was nice, but I feel like we could have done better,” said Potter. As a junior, Potter broke the school record for most points in a game with 45 and most 3-point field goals in a game with 10.
Skyelar averaged 20.2 points and and 11.8 rebounds per game last season.
Potter said that the Dragon’s goal this upcoming season is to make it to the state tournament. “We can do it if we work hard, play together, and stay healthy.”
The summer saw Potter competing with the Louisville Prospects and Hoop Dreams. He helped the Prospects qualify for Adidas Gauntlet play and then played in a couple tournaments with Hoop Dreams in Atlanta. “I also spent the summer working on my game, more specifically my handles. I know that if I’m to play at the D1 level, I may be looked on to run the point some. So I’m really trying to improve that area of my game the most.”
Potter is a strong player who can shoot the ball well, especially from deep, and can get to the rim and finish on just about anyone.
In the classroom, Potter has a 3.1 GPA and is looking for a college that is a good fit for him and that is a winning program. He currently holds offers form Lipscomb and Kentucky Wesleyan. He has interest from Tennessee Tech, Belmont, Murray State, Troy, and Western Kentucky.
