Oklahoma Christian lands two Oklahoma standouts
Oklahoma Christian hit a grand slam with two commitments on Tuesday. Midwest City Wing Derrick Walter Jr. and Westmoore Point Guard Will Graham pledged their allegiance to Oklahoma Christian at their official visit. Walter Jr. is a top ten prospect in the 2018 Class. Graham ranks inside of the top 20. Prep Hoops caught up with both Walter Jr. and Graham to get their thoughts on committing together to Oklahoma Christian.
The feeling of home at Oklahoma Christian was a common theme for both.
“The whole school atmosphere is outstanding,” said Graham. “I love the coaching staff and the players are all really cool. Everyone is committed to Oklahoma Christian and I like that a lot.”
“It felt like home as I was walking the campus and hanging out with the staff and players on the team,” said Walter Jr. “It was a great vibe.”
Graham and Walter Jr. have been grassroots teammates on Primetime for their high school career. They have been playing together since the age of four. Going to school together is a dream come true for them.
“Man I have been playing with my dude since we were four,” said Graham. “To go to college with him is going to be a fun experience. We are going to tear Oklahoma Christian up.”
“It will be great,” said Derrick Walter Jr. “To start with him at four years old and go to college with him is amazing. Not many people get to do that.”
Graham had a tough leg injury in early July. It meant a lot to Graham that Oklahoma Christian stuck with him despite his injury. Graham is currently rehabbing working his way back to the hardwood for his senior season at Westmoore.
“My leg is getting better day by day,” said Graham. “Physical therapy is getting me back to myself. I’m coming back a monster next year mark my words. My goals this season is to come back better than before and eat everyone that is in my way. I am going to show out this year just wait on it.”
Walter Jr. has an excellent opportunity with Keyshawn Embery leaving the Midwest City program for Prep School. Walter Jr. will be a focal point for the Bombers offense. A state championship remains the goal for Midwest City.
“Nothing more but to prove to everyone that we are not out of the conversation for a state title,” said Walter Jr.
Oklahoma Christian landed two of the biggest Division II recruits in Oklahoma on Tuesday. Walter Jr. and Graham will be staples of the new Corey Cole era at Oklahoma Christian.
