Anthony Higgs cuts his list down to seven
2018 forward Anthony Higgs has been one of the highest stock risers in the DMV area over the last two years. The versatile 6’8 big man has given people plenty of reasons to talk and given photographers plenty of great opportunities for poster slams.
Higgs has an extremely high ceiling. Over the past two years, he’s improved tremendously on his versatility. His athleticism came immediately, but he has now adopted the three-point shot into his game repertoire and as a result, becomes a mismatch nightmare for the majority of opposing bigs.
Alongside his frontcourt twin tower Laquill Hardnett, Higgs led the Perry Hall Gators to the first state title in school history. He followed that with a strong spring/summer with Team Melo EYBL 17U that helped his stock tremendously, but Higgs has decided to cut down his list of schools to seven. PrepHoops caught up with him on his reasoning for each.
Ole Miss: “I definitely have that type of home feeling them. They’ve definitely made me feel loved in that program and I feel like I’d be a good fit there.”
Colorado: “They have a long history of being a winning program and I like their playing style of how they play uptempo. I also have a great relationship with their assistant coach Kim English.”
Xavier: “Xavier has always been one of my top schools. I’ve always wanted to go there. It’s a long lasting kind of love for that school and program.”
St. Joe’s: “St. Joe’s was my first Division I offer. Coach Phil Martelli has a ton of experience and in an amazing guy. He comes down to Perry Hall games and he’s been extremely supportive of me.”
Massachusetts: “UMass is my old home, so I’ve always had some type of ties there. I have a lot of family up there, so it would definitely be a safer option for me.”
Tulsa: Coach English started at Tulsa and then went to Colorado, but they’ve continued to recruit me. They have a great program and a winning program that is often in the NCAA Tournament. They just feel like they need the extra push and they told me that I could be that guy.”
Towson: “It’s home. You never know when you’re going to need family and the coaching staff there has done great building their program up.”
