Top three point shooters in Utah
Utah high school basketball is known for great ball movement and excellent three point shooters. In this article I will be highlighting some of the top three point shooters in the state.
Caleb Barton 5’11 Guard 2018 (South Sevier) might be the best pure three point shooter in the state of Utah. He made an incredible 93 three points in just 26 games as a junior. Barton had a great June playing for his high school team and I would expect him to reach 100 three pointers made this season.
David Andrew 6’5 Guard 2018 (Kearns) made 75 three pointers in 25 games for Kearns last year. He is a rhythm shooter who can get extremely hot from deep. Andrew has NBA type range and isn’t afraid to shoot off the catch or off the bounce from that range. He is playing with UBC this month in California and Las Vegas.
Taylor Zwick 6’2 Guard 2019 (East) knocked down 63 three pointers including a game where he made 10 threes. This was a pretty impressive sophomore season and I expect him to make more next year. Zwick is a catch and shoot type of guy which is perfect as he is playing along side 6’9 Mike Frazier.
Jeremy Dowdell 6’3 Guard 2019 (Olympus) made 65 three pointers on a stacked Olympus team where the ball wasn’t always in his hands. He will have more shots this year as several key players have graduated. Dowdell is playing for West Elite this month as they travel during the live periods.
Cody Meza 5’9 Guard 2018 (Cyprus) knocked down 65 three pointers last season as a junior. Even though Meza is undersized he has a quick release and is able to get his shot off. He is an absolute gym rat which is why he shot the ball so well last season. Look for him to have a big senior year for Cyprus.
Hunter Erickson 6’3 Guard 2018 (Timpview) is one of the best players in the class of 2018 but is also a knock down shooter. He made 57 three pointers last season as a junior. I don’t expect that number to jump that much but that is because of how athletic Erickson is. He is able to get to the hoop off of the bounce or slashing in the paint.
