RUN Showcase Standouts
Prep Hoops Oklahoma was out scouting on Saturday to see several prospects. Get a look at what prospects shined in a showcase format.
Trent Smith 2018 Latta Wing
Smith was by far the biggest surprise at the showcase on Saturday. He scored at all three levels showing great energy, athleticism and a non-stop motor. At 6’5 on the Wing Smith is a small town kid that has flown under the radar for quite some time. But expect that to change after his performance on Saturday. Smith will be in the next set of rankings for the 2018 Prep Hoops Oklahoma Class. He projects to the Division II to NAIA D2 level.
Dekelyn Stevenson 2019 Putnam City North Point Guard
Stevenson has a solid handle of the rock at the Point Guard spot. He has a ways to go in some areas, but the 2019 Point Guard displayed some positive signs with his quickness to the rim. Stevenson could be a player that finds some minutes off the bench for a very talented Putnam City North squad.
Kori Guest 2018 Tulsa Memorial Forward
Guest was a dominant force on Saturday making plays left and right for his team. He looked more like a long 6’6 Wing than he ever has. It appears Guest is growing into his body. This next year Tulsa Memorial will key on Guest in a large role. If Saturday was any indication Guest appears to be on the path to success. He was best at driving the ball to the basket and finishing in traffic. The improvements Guest showed in his jump shot were noticeable from deep. Keep an eye on Guest if you are a small college Division II, NAIA, or JUCO.
Byron Searls 2018 Edmond North Forward
Searls can play at the Forward spot and even a little out on the Wing. What made Searls standout was his fight to rebound the basketball. It is not often as a showcase setting you see a player go out and make it a point to rebound as hard as Searls did. He is a tough Forward that could play the 4 or slide out to the Wing and play the 3. The length at 6’5 of Searls with his motor and toughness will make colleges give him looks. Searls is a small college prospect projection.
Craig Webb 2018 Tulsa Memorial Point Guard
For his entire career at Tulsa Memorial Webb has seen limited varsity minutes off the bench, but that is getting ready to change with many stars of the Chargers graduating. Webb was super energetic on both ends of the floor. The defense Webb played led to his offensive outburst. He pulled in a couple of steals, which led to easy transition lay ins. Webb will be a small college player somewhere after he graduates. He projects to the NAIA Division II level. Don’t be surprised when Webb makes some noise at the Point Guard spot for Tulsa Memorial this year.
Cameron Bell 2019 Millwood Point Guard
Bell is an intriguing young Point Guard in the 2019 Class who showed some spark on Saturday. He handled the ball well. The biggest thing that stood out was his aggressiveness to the basket with the ability to finish around the rim.
Grayson Nix 2018 Red Oak Wing
Nix recently pulled in an offer from Henderson State after a visit. It was easy to see why he has so many Division II programs recruiting him hard with the great showing he put on display Saturday. Nix drained a ton of three-point shots making it look easy, even shots from well beyond the three-point stripe. Nix is ranked the 31st overall player in the Prep Hoops Oklahoma 2018 Class rankings, expect that to continue to rise with performances like the one he put on Saturday. Athleticism limits Nix in some areas, but the length, ability to score and toughness makes Nix a coveted Division II prospect around the region.
Garrett Rouse 2019 Tuttle Guard
Rouse is a player who continues to rise up the charts in the Oklahoma 2019 Class with his performances this spring and summer. He is not the quickest or most athletic player, but is one of the toughest. Saturday, Rouse got to the basket and finished through contact. Rouse projects to the Division II level.
Logan Dolan 2019 Broken Arrow Wing
Get used to hearing the name of Dolan as it will often be called next year at Broken Arrow. The 2019 Wing can shoot the ball extremely well from behind the arc. On Saturday Dolan showed just how valuable he can be as a shooter from the outside. Look for Broken Arrow to kick the ball out to Dolan many times next year. He projects to the Division II level.
Jalen N’Guessan 2018 Moore Guard
N’Guessan is a Point Guard who did a great job of not trying to do to much at the showcase, but just play his game. He has a good handle of the rock and excelled at driving the ball to the hoop.
