Rising Big Men (Exclusive Video Footage)
Coaches are always on the lookout for big men, especially those slipping through the cracks. Check out these rising big men (with footage) who have played their way onto several college coaches radar during live period.
Valentin Bilounga – 6’10” Team Premier 16U – Class of 2020
Energetic! At first glimpse, his energy level immediately stands out. Had 8 blocks in his matchup against Big Shots Elite in their Charlotte Live tournament and was equally impressive on the glass. Offensively, he’s raw but possesses the motor and coordination to develop a solid low post game sooner than later. Should his back to the basket game develop, he’ll become a must have for schools that love throwback big men who finish inside, love to defend and rebound.
Ody Oguama – 6’9” NC Red Storm 17U – Class of 2018
Deceptively quick big man, with excellent shot blocking ability. Has continued to improve on the offensive end making some quick turnaround jump-hooks, using hesitations and staying active around the rim for put backs. Has the potential to develop into a unique forward with great length, quickness and defensive prowess. Has earned himself a ton of interest and some offers over the summer playing with NC Red Storm. More offers are sure to come as he continues to come into his own.
Fifi Mensah – 6’11” Garner Road 16U – Class of 2019
Length! Mensah has improved dramatically since the beginning of live period. He’s doing a much better job of sealing his man on the block and towering over them for jump hooks. Defensively, he does a solid job using his extremely long wingspan to bother shots and swat shot attempts against the backboard. When he grabs the rebound, he does a good job keeping the ball high and finding the guard to get breaks started. Still really raw, but a ton to like here long term on both ends of the floor.
