Recruiting report: Jordan Hilstock (2019)
2019 Vista G Jordan Hilstock is one of the better two-way guard prospects in Southern California, regardless of class.
Offensively, the 6-3 combo guard is a capable slasher and a good spot-up shooter. Hilstock, however, thrives on the defensive end.
He has elite length, timing and lateral quickness and uses it to bottle up opponents. He’s strong enough to defend multiple positions at the high school level.
“Obviously my defense and just my ability to be active on both ends of the floor and on the boards are my strengths as a prospect,” Hilstock said. “I also think I’m a pretty unselfish player.”
Hilstock said he’s worked on being a more consistent scorer off the dribble and playing on balance. This, he said, will open up more scoring opportunities.
“I’m not assertive enough at times and I sometimes don’t fully use my athletic potential when I’m going to the basket,” Hilstock said. “I’ve been strengthening my legs and trying to get my body healthy for July.”
Hilstock said he feels that he can play at the highest levels of college basketball, and he intends to prove it in July.
“I want to have a breakout season in July, and get my name known outside of San Diego,” he said.
