Recruiting Report 2018: Stephen Armstrong
Stephen Armstrong, 6’5″, Sf/PF, 2018. Clarksburg Coyotes HS. Clarksburg, MD.
Head Coach: Steve Watson
Grassroots Team: MOCO Heat/Team Vito
Stephen is a very important & key returning starter for Clarksburg HS. Last season he averaged 16 points & 10 rebounds per game & Stephen was moved up to varsity for the Coyotes in his freshmen season. Stephen is a multi talented & diversified player who is a college basketball scholarship player. We were very impressed by his play & skill set last season.
In school Stephen excels with an excellent 3.3 GPA and 1270 SAT score, he is interested in Occupational Therapy as a career. On the court Stephen has a very high basketball IQ without many weaknesses. He adds, ” I am a inside/out post up player for Clarksburg. I like to attack the rim and flush down a dunk to energize us. In my opinion I am a very good athlete & can run the court well. Despite my athleticism I work on strength & conditioning with a Trainer. We work on explosion, flexibility, strength, quickness, agility in addition to overall basketball skills & drills. I work hard to constantly improve in the classroom and on the court and have huge goal to play basketball in college.”
We have seen Stephen display a very diverse offensive arsenal & he says” My court vision is very good and I am always scanning my options with or without the ball and move on to the next play very quick. I can attack the rim or shoot off the dribble from both sides and hands. However, I am working hard on my ball handling since I will play the 3 at the next level and it will make me more of a threat for Clarksburg. On defense I pride myself on being a lock down defender and being able to guard multiple positions.
To date Stephen is receiving interest from Hood College (MD) Assumption College (MA), Millersville State (PA), Mt. St. Mary (MD) and Knox College. We look forward to covering Stephen this coming season at Clarksburg HS in their run to the Maryland 4A State Playoffs.
