Anthony Desruisseau , 6’2″, CG, 2018. Springbrook HS Silver Spring, MD.
Grassroots Team: Maryland Elite:
Anthony is a very smooth CG who impressed us on the fast break and his ability to get to the rim. He has an excellent change of pace in his dribble game and adds,” I like to push the ball up the court in transition & get to the basket where I can kick out or finish thru contact” We saw a nice shooting stroke from Anthony who adds, ” I am a good catch & shoot player from outside the 3 point line.” We saw some PG skills from Anthony who adds, I can play 2 positions, and I know how to get my teammates involved. Additionally, I can change the tempo the game.”
This spring during the live period Anthony averaged 11 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds per game for Maryland Elite. Coaches have praised his consistency and overall play. Anthony has been on the Springbrook varsity since his freshmen year and he played one of football at WR. You can see his football background in a good way when Anthony plays in regard to toughness and holding position.
This coming season Springbrook adds PG Delaino Jessup which will allow Anthony to be the secondary ball handler & back up PG. However Anthony is working to improve his PG skills & says, ” This summer I am learning how to be a better facilitator and I am always working on my ball handling skills. I work on basketball 6 days a week, which includes basketball skills, weight training & flexibility. Skill wise I am working on my pull up in transition and mid range game. I want to have PG skills and I study and watch players like Collin Sexton, Trevon Duval & Markelle Fultz.”
In the classroom Anthony is an excellent student carrying a 3.3 GP and is interested in majoring in Business Management in college. Anthony is very close his mother and says,” My mother has been really influential in my life. She has been really supportive and is always pushing me to do my best on and off the court. She has learned a lot from watching me play and wants the best for me in the future.”
We firmly believe that Anthony can play basketball in college currently at the D2 level currently. He has a very good lean build, works hard, and is a team player with a high basketball IQ. Anthony has received interest from Montclair State University, Norwich College, Catawba College, and East Stroudsburg of Pennsylvania.
We will be watching Anthony and Springbrook HS closely in Montgomery County 4A play along with the Blue Devils next door rival Paint Branch HS.
