Each year many outstanding college prospects get overlooked in the Washington, DC and Baltimore DMVs and this is the case for Matthew Balanc. He is an elite athlete and player who plays in The Maryland Montgomery County 4A/3A East region. Matthews very nice parents go to almost every game and Mr. Balanc said this weekend, "It is very possible since Springbrook was 13-13 last year Matthew is being overlooked, and there are so many great teams & players in the area". However, I believe Springbrook will be one of the best teams in Montgomery County 4A this year, which is the highest classification for Maryland Public Schools. With the addition of PG Jelanio Jessup ,Matthew will move over to his more natural position as a WG or CG. However, Matthew is very capable of running the point. To date Matthew has offers from Bryant University and St. Thomas Aquinas who have done their homework, both of whom he is considering. Without question Matthew is one of the most explosive players in the Washington, DC DMV, but far from one dimensional. Matthew has excellent jump shot extending to beyond 3 point range, on or off the dribble and he can score from all 3 levels. Additionally, he has developed a very good pull up game. Matthew is well known in the DMV as an explosive slasher, who is on is way to becoming an excellent defender with his very long wingspan. Matthew adds", I consider myself a high energy player and defender. I am always looking to get my teammates involved, but if I see an opening I will take it." He says," This spring and summer I am working to improve my dribbling and overall ball-handling & my positioning as a rebounder. I am always working on improving all of the skills needed to play basketball at a high level. My Trainer is Coach James Lee who is my Coach at Mid Atlantic Select who has helped me a great deal. Also, i have gained excellent experience playing for Mid Atlantic Select and I am looking for forward this season at Springbook. We have a chance to very good." The highlights below prove how dynamic Matthew plays, but he is an excellent all around player. We expect his offers to increase in the near future.
