Recap: West Coast Elite 100
CLAREMONT, Ca.-The West Coast Elite 100 camp, directed by Ryan Silver, launched around 5 PM at Pitzer College and by the time the games ended on Sunday afternoon, there were a bevy of outstanding performances to chew on for the long drive home.
There were a number of out-of-state performances that were eye-catching including: 6-4 Maka Ellis (Sierra Vista/NV), 6-6 Ronnie DeGray (Chapparal/CO), 6-3 Elijah Pepper (Selah/WA), and 6-4 Chase Drew (The Gilman School/MD), 6-5 Scottie Lewis (Ranney School/NJ), and Bryan Antoine (Ranney School/NJ)
Elite 100 Standouts (California)
2020 Jalen Green (San Joaquin Memorial/CA)
This kid doesn’t need an elevator to get to the second floor. The rangy wing-type is electric in the open court as he converted an array of dunks. When his jump shot is flowing he is tough to stop, especially in transition.
2019 Jaden Shackelford (Oak Hills/CA)
One of the most underrated prospects in the nation. The No. 8 ranked player in the So-Cal prephoops.com rankings is a slick lefty with a skill set that allows him to play both guard spots. He can drain 3s off the dribble and can break down defenders as well as he makes his way to the rim.
2020 Clark Slajchert (OakPark, CA)
This kid is a born scorer who can find open teammates as well. His pull-up game is tight and his release on his jump shot is buttery. Never changes expressions while he dissects the defense. #Fearless
2018 Trey Anderson (San Diego/Mater Dei/CA)
Anderson excels in a “Camp Ball” atmosphere due to his ability to slash his way to the rim and hit timely 3-point jump shots in rhythm. His athleticism (long strider) allows him to cover space and his length make him to difficult to stop while pushing the break.
2020 Terren Frank (Sierra Canyon/CA)
Frank should be known as “Mr. Mid-range.” This 6-foot-6ish 4-man has the ball skills to play some 3, but his scoring skill set, terrific hands, and overall feel has him trending as match-up nightmare at the 4.
2019 Jaime Jaquez Jr. (Camarillo/CA)
Jaquez jr. has motor written all over him. He is always in relentless mode and the results are consistent, especially in a wide-open game. He gets to the lane at will, has the frame to finish through contact, and his jump shot is on the come.
2018 Rip Economou (Santa Monica/CA)
One of the more widely debated prospects in Southern California. He is the prototypical “Camp” player where essentially it’s ‘pick-up basketball.” This fits Economou’s style to a tee. He is a fearless volume scorer who has an ideal frame and is quite bouncy. When the game slows down is when his shot selection and overall feel for the game come into question.
