Prospect Spotlight: Boogie Ellis (2019)
Rejean “Boogie” Ellis, a household name in San Diego, is establishing himself as one of the premier point guard prospects on the West Coast.
Coaches named Ellis, a 6-foot-1, 150-pound rising junior from San Diego Mission Bay High, the overall Most Valuable Player at last week’s Jared Dudley Elite Skills Academy.
He dominated the three-day camp and showed off his improved explosiveness in the half court and ability to finish through contact with either hand. By doing this, Ellis only adds to his already-prolific scoring repertoire.
He also distributed the ball well both in the half court and in transition.
“I’ve been working on that every day, getting better at finishing with my right and left hand through contact,” said Ellis, who plays travel ball for the San Diego All-Stars. “I’m in the gym every day, trying to get better.”
Eastern Washington, San Diego State and the University of San Diego each offered Ellis during the spring. Ellis said he looks forward to more offers and interest during July.
Expect that to happen, especially as Ellis continues to strike the balance of scoring and creating for his teammates.
“I’m gonna kill,” he said.
