We are on the tail end of summer basketball and around the country college prospects at all levels are working on their game and working toward earning an opportunity to play at the next level. Prep Hoops Kentucky puts a spotlight on prospects around the Bluegrass State.
Ahmad Price is a 6’3 guard from Fern Creek High School in Louisville, KY. Last season, Price helped lead the Tigers an astonishing 35-3 overall record and it’s first ever trip to the Kentucky state tournament. Fern Creek fell just short of advancing to the championship game, falling to Cooper High School from Northern Kentucky.
“Our season last year at Fern Creek was great! I got to help lead my team to the ‘Sweet 16’ state tournament,” said Price. Individually, I was blessed enough to earn a spot on the All-Tournament team during the state tournament after helping us win our first ever 6th Region title.”
Last season for the Tigers, Price averaged 12 points and 5.2 rebounds, shooting over 53% from the field.
This summer Price has been running with Hoop Dreams. “Coming from playing in the EYBL (Price played for the KY Travelers last season), the Adidas Gauntlet is hard, but the EYBL is just a different type of ball game.” This summer the senior-to-be has been focusing on his jump shot and ball handling. “I can definitely see that improvement in my game.”
Right now, Price is getting interest from a number of different schools from both the low and mid-major level. Morehead State, Lipscomb, Samford, and Furman are schools that have reach out. Samford has offered. “Level isn’t really important to me. As long as I stay loyal to the grind and be patient they are going to find me.”
When asked what he was looking for in a school at the next level, Price had this to say: “I’m looking for a school with a good communications program. I know basketball doesn’t last forever, so when it’s over I want to be a sports broadcaster – so I’m looking forward to pursuing a career in that.”
