Prep Hoops Finale 17U preview
The Prep Hoops Finale gets underway on Friday night at Solid Rock in Edmond, Oklahoma. We preview today the stacked 17U field with teams from the surrounding states, plus a team out of South Dakota. Get two standouts to watch from each squad below. Get the full schedule here:
3D Athletes
Carson Meier 2018 Wing** (Holds D2 Offer)
He is a long threat on the wing. With his high basketball IQ and movement without the ball to get open makes it extremely hard to guard him when his 3 ball is dialed in. His mid-range game and explosive ability to drive and create shots makes him a threat at any location on the floor. Meier is hearing heavy from Division II schools and from a few Division I programs as well.
Luke Major 2018 Forward
He is a versatile player on the court. He has the ability to not only handle the ball but knock it down from behind the 3. He can bring the ball down the floor and run offense and his defense around the rim is outstanding. Major is a true stretch four. His athleticism makes it easy for him to get his shot off against bigger defenders. Major is getting lots of Division II interest.
Tyler Street 2018 Guard
He is a deadeye from behind the line. If he has a slither of space it’s going up and more than likely it’s going in. The kid can flat out shoot. He’s also a great rebounding guard. He will mix it up and come away with a loose ball. When Street is one he is dangerous.
Ball 4 Life
Damian Everette 2018 Point Guard
He is a very tough nosed PG that plays with a chip on his shoulder. Everette makes defending a high prority. He also shoots the ball well.
Derek Hill 2018 Point Guard
Hill is a good playmaking PG for openings for his teammates and himself. He is super quick in the open court, which helps create openings.
BBA UA Force (South Dakota)
Brady VanHolland 2018 Guard
He is a 6’3 Guard with some handles. He is a crafty finisher around the basket. VanHolland excellent catch & shoot plus dribble pull up, defends 1-4 positions effectively. Several small colleges up North are on VanHolland Dakota State, USF, U of Wisconsin Lacrosse.
Christian Beachler 2018 Forward
He is a 6’6″ swing/stretch 4 who plays inside/outside with a back to basket & face up. Beachler is an athletic and agile shot blocker. He is a sneaky good passer. Christian is also a wide receiver and schools he is currently looking at include West Point, UND, as well as programs in South Dakota. He does have small college basketball interests.
Ace Zorr 2018 Forward
He is a 6’5″ Forward, creative, strong finisher and is an outside threat. Zorr is a strong and athletic defender and shot blocker. He has a high-energy motor. He has some small college interest.
Edmond Eagles
Beckham King 2018 Guard
King is a 2-3 that has some great hops. He is a three-point sniper from outside. King moves well without the ball to the basket.
Trip Wooley 2018 Point Guard
Wooley is a Point Guard that has a solid handle. He can score at all three levels. Wooley looks to score with the ball in his hands.
Game Changer Hoops Elite
Zalek Sharp 2018 Guard
Sharp is an under the radar player on the Game Changer Hoops Elite squad. He won’t wow you with plays that jump off the court, but simply gets the job done. He can score it solid, rebound solid and defends hard. At 6’2 Sharp is receiving small college interest from several schools.
Cole Jones 2018 Guard
Jones is a scoring machine. He can put it up from just about anywhere on the court and gives you the feeling that it is going in. Small colleges looking for a microwave scorer this could be your guy.
Game Changer Hoops Select
Alex Roubik 2018 Post
Roubik is a 6’6 Post that does the dirty work for the Game Changer Hoops Select 17U squad. He is scrappy in the paint and does a good job of getting rebounds.
Matt Sinor 2018 Guard
Sinor is a utility player for Game Changer Hoops Select always doing everything he can to provide his team with what they need on that night. Sinor is a key piece on the Game Changer Hoops Select squad.
Kansas Select
Ben Pyle 2018 Wing
Pyle has a ton of interest from Division I mid major programs to high Division II programs. He is a long lanky Wing and certainly is one of the most talented players in the Prep Hoops Finale field. He can score it from all three levels at 6’7. Pyle is an intriguing prospect.
Dylan Vincent 2018 Point Guard
Vincent has had some small major Division I and some D2, NAIA, and JUCO interest. He runs the Point Guard spot very smoothly. Vincent has some swagger to his game. He is really good at scanning the floor and spotting the open man. Vincent is one of the higher tier players at the Prep Hoops Finale.
OK D1 Elite
Nick Frost 2018 Point Guard
Frost is a quick Point Guard with a solid handle. He uses his quick first step to get him open on offense. Frost will be the creator and scorer for OK D1 Elite.
Jaden Hayer 2018 Guard
Hayer is a good shooter with a decent handle of the rock. On the Wing Hayer will look to find some instant offense for OK D1 Elite.
Oklahoma Hustle
Ryan Cooper 2018 Point Guard
Cooper is a relentless defender who doubles as the “coach on the floor”. Cooper is a diamond in the rough that is relatively unknown, but will make some college very happy. High academic kid as well. He is the 2X defensive player of the year in his conference.
Caden Krotzer 2018 Guard
Krotzer is a shooter that when on is very good. He had a huge season for Cleveland this past year. The grades of Krotzer matchup with on the court talent. He was the Tulsa 7 conference player of the year as a junior.
Oklahoma Hustlers
Elijah Harris 2018 Wing
Harris is a player who excels at attacking the rim with force. He can score in the half-court, but excels out in transition.
Corion Palmer 2018 Wing
Palmer is super aggressive towards the basket. He has good athleticism, which helps him finish in traffic. Palmer will be keyed upon to be a scorer for the Hustlers.
Oklahoma Magic
Jaylan Williams 2018 Forward
Williams is a true stretch four with good body size to battle in the paint. He will surprise many when you first watch him with his ability to put the ball in the basket with his jumper. Williams will be a key player for the Oklahoma Magic this weekend.
Darnell Johnson 2018 Wing
Johnson is a long 6’5 Wing that gets to the rim with ease. Once he gets to the rim expect a strong finish. Johnson athleticism is what separates him on the Wing at 6’5.
Oklahoma Power Elite
Stephon Hall 2018 Point Guard** (Holds D2 offer)
Hall picked up an early D2 offer last year with his play at the Point Guard spot. He plays with a great change of pace. Hall can score it when called upon certainly, but is best with the rock in his hands controlling the game at the Point Guard spot.
Mo Wilson 2018 Wing** (Holds D2 offer)
Wilson recently picked up an MIAA D2 offer. He is long on the Wing at 6’5 with a great wingspan. He has played the Point most of his life, which has helped him to have great court vision and passing ability. Wilson will be one of the D2 highly sought after guys in Oklahoma in the 2018 Class.
Oklahoma Power Select
Jalen N’Guessen 2018 Guard
N’Guessen is a combo Guard with a good handle of the rock. He has a good wingspan and build on him. He is best at manning the Point and leading the Oklahoma Power Select squad.
Jack Harstad 2018 Guard
Harstad is good at getting to the rim with his dribble drive. He can also catch teams off guard with his good pull up jumper from mid-range.
Oklahoma Primetime Black
Brayden Lute 2018 Forward
Lute will have the opportunity to play college ball based off his size, effort and determination. In the paint Lute can do a little bit of everything. He will be a key player for Primetime Black this weekend.
Shamar Hill 2018 Guard
Hill is a strong Guard that plays extremely hard. He brings good defense to the floor. With the ball in his hands Hill is a floor general.
Oklahoma Wolfpack
Bryce Mooreland 2018 Point Guard
Mooreland is an outstanding showman at the Point Guard spot that makes the right plays. He continues to make the best plays to set his team up for success. Mooreland is a player who excels at getting to the rim.
Deangelo Hunt 2018 Wing
Hunt is a hard-nosed defender that brings it on both ends. He makes it tough to score as a defender. On offense he does well slashing to the hoop.
OnPoint Hoops
Adokiye Iyaye 2018 Guard** (Committed to D1, UTSA)
Iyaye is one of the most talented Guards in the Prep Hoops Finale. He is a true two way player that has continued to improve over his career. Iyaye will be a treat to watch this weekend. UTSA got a good one.
Dalton Vinson 2018 Forward** (Holds D2 offer)
Vinson is one of the better Posts in the Oklahoma 2018 Class. He plays tough in the paint fighting for every rebound. Vinson is receiving heavy Division II interest.
Blake Owens 2018 Forward
Owens is going to be a huge boost to the college program he lands at next year. The length and sneaky athleticism of Owens make him a coveted high Division II recruit. He even has a couple low Division I programs that have reached out after his strong spring on the Adidas Circuit.
Primetime (Red)
William Graham 2018 Point Guard** (Holds D2 offer)
He is a 5’9 Point Guard from Westmoore that controls the tempo of the game on the offensive end and defensive end with the ability to score with his quickness. He has the ability to rebound with the big boys in the paint due to his hustle and grit. Graham has a lot of interest from D2 schools with some interest from a couple D1 programs. Per his father Graham holds an offer from Oklahoma Christian university.
Derrick Walter Jr. 2018 Wing** (Holds multiple small college offers)
He is a 6’5 Small Forward from Midwest City that can light it up from the outside and has the ability to put it on the floor and get to the rim and rebounds well. Walter is gaining a lot of interest from the lower D1 schools and D2 schools. He holds a couple of offers.
Rock Mountain Vipers
Sindou Cisse 2018 Guard
Cisse is an excellent defender, a strong playmaker with a high Basketball IQ. His game is very fluid able to change and adapt his game very easily. He can score on all three levels effectively. He is receiving heavy interest from several Division II programs as well as some Division I. Excelled at the Southwest All-American camp, recognized as one of the Top 40 players at the camp.
Morgan Brown 2018 Wing
Brown is an electric highflying energy wing, very athletic, strong defender, rebounder and very efficient scorer on all three levels. Brown is hearing from Division II programs as well as a few Division I programs. He excelled at the Southwest All-American camp, recognized as one of the Top 40 players at the camp.
Servants
Jace Pratt 2018 Point Guard
He is a good shooter and ball handler. He runs the PG spot for the Servants Elite squad. He is a pretty smart kid with a good basketball IQ. Pratt could be the best shooter in the Oklahoma 2018 Class. When he is locked in it is special to watch. He just recently moved to the Point.
Jordan Lucas 2018 Forward
Lucas is a good rebounder and has great energy. He is a team player and a good kid. Each game out Lucas gives everything that he has.
Servants Gold
Tyree Boyd 2019 Wing
Boyd is a rising 2019 Oklahoma Wing that shined bright at the Prep Hoops Oklahoma State Tournament. This weekend Boyd will be facing tougher competition playing up an age group, but if he is anything like last time he will impress. He can shoot the ball well. Doesn’t move the quickest, but can put it on the floor if necessary.
Tre Conley 2018 Point Guard
Conley will man the Point Guard spot for the Servants with the ability to score effectively. He can get hot quickly and score it well.
Showtime
Micah McQuarters 2018 Wing
He had a breakout year at Union high school this past season on the Wing. He looks to continue to prove that he can play at the college level with his 6’3 size and long, lanky build. He has scored the ball well this grassroots season. The growth in his game is evident.
Micah Bell 2018 Guard
Bell has done some really positive things on the floor with Showtime. Look for him to be a piece they rely on to step up for them to advance deep in the tournament. Bell will have his opportunities this weekend.
Team Cougars Elite
Aeneas White 2018 Guard
He has a high basketball IQ. White is a good defender. This summer White is shooting the ball well. He is a great teammate.
Jalen Williams 2018 Point Guard
Williams is undersized, but relentlessly on offense and defense. He has great ball handing skills. Teams struggle to trap him, as he is one of the fastest Guard’s around. He gets his teammates easy shots with his quickness and passing skills.
Team Flight
Ramey Harrison 2018 Point Guard
Harrison is a good ball handler and has great court vision. He drives the ball to the rim well and can shoot the 3. Harrison plays extremely hard on the floor.
Laffyette Mckissick 2018 Forward
He is uses his strength around the basket to get rebound and score in the paint. Laffyette plays tough as nails and puts it on the line for Team Flight.
Team Griffin
Kobe Burgess 2019 PG** (Holds D1 Offer)
Burgess is a rising 2019 Guard in Oklahoma with his ability to dominate both ends of the floor. He is a pest on defense. Burgess excels offensively getting to the basket. He just recently picked up an offer from Oral Roberts.
Drew Tennial 2019 Wing
Tennial is a long 6’5 Wing that is starting to bring his game together. He had a strong performance in May. Tennial is the type of player that when locked in can take over a game with his drive to the hoop. He may not always do it the traditional way, but Tennial can be a microwave-scoring machine. The kid has some game. He currently holds no offers at this time.
Tulsa Hawks
Carson Calavan 2018 6′ PG
He makes teammates better. At the Point Calavan see’s the floor well. He can score off the dribble or catch and shoot. Great floor vision separates Calavan. Although he holds no offers at this point expect that to change very soon with heavy D2 interest.
Layton Hartloff 2018 6’8 F
He can score inside and out. Hartloff is a great option at the stretch four. He is rising up the charts in the 2018 Class of Oklahoma becoming one of the better small college four mans. He hits the 3 and can post strong. Hartloff will surprise you with some plays above the rim.
Team Cougars Elite
