Oklahoma UAA Finals Report
Prep Hoops Staff
The Prep Hoops staff put together a comprehensive Oklahoma report from the Under Armour Association Finals in Atlanta. Oklahoma Run PWP did not make the finals, but played in the open division and made some noise at each age group. Get a look at what players stood out.
Keyshawn Embery 2018 Oklahoma Run PWP Guard
Embery raised his stock this weekend with his scoring talents from all three levels. He excelled at driving the ball to the basket and made three-pointers to open up offense for him. The craftiness of Embery allows him to slice through the defense to the basket with ease. Multiple new Division I schools have reached out to him.
Tauriawn Knight 2018 Oklahoma Run PWP Guard
Knight picked up his first Division I offer this weekend with his play on both ends of the floor. He brings a complete game to the court each game out. Knight scored the ball efficiently, played with a high basketball IQ and brought intensity on the defensive end. Lookout, Knight could blow up with schools around Low to Mid Major.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP Guard
At 6’4 and growing, Thompson was the star of the weekend with Oklahoma Run PWP 16U squad. He picked up multiple High Major Division I offers and added more schools with interest in him as well. Thompson scored the ball well with his jumper. His ability to move without the ball caught the eye of the Prep Hoops Staff. “He was constantly working to get open.” Thompson has the IT factor that is rare. The intangibles of his game with his high basketball IQ, running motor and ability to score the ball at a high level set him apart. Look for more of the national scene to show Thompson love as his basketball career looks to just be beginning.
Camryn Dennis 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Guard
Dennis has been a player who has had his ups and downs on the court. This weekend could be a sign of growth, maturity and stability for Dennis. He thrived this weekend with Oklahoma Run PWP helping them to a deep run in the 16U bracket. The ball handling, quickness and smooth jump shot of Dennis propelled PWP. Dennis already holds an Oral Roberts offer and it appears more could be on the way with the great weekend he had in Atlanta.
Micah Thomas 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Point Guard
Thomas was huge for Oklahoma Run PWP at the Point Guard spot. The opportunity for Thomas to create for his team was there for the taking. Not only did Thomas take the opportunity he dominated it this weekend in Atlanta. Thomas did his best to create openings in the offense for his teammates, which in turn also made some openings for himself. He did not try to do to much, but consistently made the right basketball play. Thomas picked up an offer from Tulsa.
Hunter Staton 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Forward
Staton was a bright spot in the paint for Oklahoma Run PWP rebounding and defending at a high level. This weekend Staton showed a lot of growth scoring the rock well around the basket. Staton is starting to pick up some Low Major Division I interest with his size at 6’8 and growth in his game this summer.
Trey Phipps 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP Guard
Over this summer Phipps has broken out with Oklahoma Run PWP and his move over to Booker T. Washington where his father is now the head coach. This weekend Phipps showed a lot of the positives that have led to his first Division I offer this summer and interest from a number of schools. It is still very early with Phipps, but one things is for sure, the kid can shoot the basketball lights out. In the words of one Prep Hoops staff member “He was lights out from behind the arc. You expected every three to go in.” Phipps has incredible shooting form and touch on his jumper. The scoring talents of Phipps landed him an early offer from Oral Roberts and have him now picking up interest from other Division I schools. Phipps is a 2020 Oklahoma Guard to keep an eye on.
