Mullen’s High Profile Stock Risers: Part 7
The Mullen’s High Profile Tournament is taking place this weekend in Wichita, Kansas. Prep Hoops was on hand scouting the competition from the Midwest. Several players caught the eyes of college coaches and media. Get a look at our seventh installment of Mullen’s High Profile Tournament Stock Risers. This one includes many players who broke out this weekend.
Darrius Phillips 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black Wing
Phillips showed some really positive signs of being one of the top Wings in the Oklahoma 2020 Class. He is explosive to the rim and did a good job finishing around the basket, especially through contact. The body of Phillips is long and lanky around 6’4. Once he fills out he will be even better at getting to the rim. Phillips has a lot of potential with his good athleticism and build. Keep an eye out for Phillips as he matures at Roland high school and with Oklahoma Run PWP.
Brock Davis 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black Post
Davis showed great strength for his age muscling in buckets in the paint. He was a constant force for Oklahoma Run PWP 15U Black squad this weekend. Clearly, Davis is a top ten player at this point in the Oklahoma 2020 Class. He has some potential the level he projects at will come down to what height he gets to and how he continues to develop. Davis certainly has Division I potential with his skill and a strong showing in the post this weekend.
LaJuan Hughes 2018 Tulsa Hawks Combo Guard
Hughes did a variety of things for the Tulsa Hawks at the 1 and the 2. He plays really tough on the floor. Hughes shot the ball well enough to open up the drive to the bucket for him. When Hughes drove the ball to the basket he was strong with the rock using the rim to his advantage. He has a nice package of lay ups that help him finish. Hughes projects to the NAIA D2 to Division III level.
Major Smith 2018 BTR Point Guard
Smith shot the ball well from three-point range. What helps him on offense is his ability to shoot the rock so well off the dribble. He is not the quickest. But uses his high basketball IQ to make up for a lot of what he lacks speed and athletic wise. The shooting stroke of Major will make him valuable in college. He projects to the NAIA D2 level.
Trey Alexander 2021 Kansas Pray and Play Guard
Alexander had an excellent weekend breaking out in the 15U bracket at the Mullen’s High Profile Tournament in Kansas. He is regarded by most as the top Oklahoma prospect coming up in the 2021 Oklahoma Class. It was easy to see why with the success Alexander had on the court filling it up from all over. Alexander will quickly get Division I interest with his talent as he starts high school. Colleges will want to keep Alexander in mind as he comes up in the 2021 Class.
