Mullen’s High Profile Stock Risers: Part 6
The Mullen’s High Profile Tournament is taking place this weekend in Wichita, Kansas. Prep Hoops was on hand scouting the competition from the Midwest. Several players caught the eyes of college coaches and media. Get a look at our sixth installment of Mullen’s High Profile Tournament Stock Risers.
Derrick Walter Jr. 2018 Primetime Wing
Walter Jr. shined this weekend showing the growth in his game over the last year. It seemed every shot went in and out on Friday night, which for those who have watched him is not a regular thing. Walter didn’t try to force the three-point jumper on Friday night but used his dribbling skills to get to the rim. At 6’5 with his length Walter got going as the weekend continued doing what we have been accustom to seeing hitting three-point shots left and right. The skill set of Walter as a scorer sets him apart from the pack. He might be the best player in Oklahoma without a Division I offer. He does hold a Division II offer from Oklahoma Christian. Walter has some great upside with the growth in his game and size. Look for more schools to recruit him after the big weekend at Mullens.
Jett Sternberger 2019 Game Changer Hoops 17U Elite Point Guard
Sternberger scored the ball well from three-point range. What allowed him to have such great success scoring the ball was his ability to create off the dribble. The best way to describe Sternberger is two words gamer, scorer. He already holds a Division II offer from SWOSU with more to come with his skill set.
Kobe Burgess 2019 Team Griffin Point Guard
Burgess has been huge on both sides of the ball for Team Griffin this weekend at the Mullen’s High Profile Tournament. He did an excellent job of bringing it on the defensive end being a pest, distributing the passing lanes and racking up steals. Burgess scored the ball best getting to the rim off of his quick dribble penetration. Oral Roberts has offered Burgess earlier this summer look for more Division I programs to show interest in Burgess following this weekend.
Layton Hartloff 2018 Tulsa Hawks Forward
Hartloff will be one of the top four man’s out of the Oklahoma 2018 Class due to his size and skill set that stenches the floor. He might be the best stench four shooters out of Oklahoma this year. He rebounded well and did a good job doing his best to be physical. Hartloff scoring talents and size at 6’7 land His as a projected Division II prospect.
Kalib Boone 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Black Forward
Boone is bursting with potential in the 2019 Oklahoma Class. He was huge on the boards for Oklahoma Run PWP. Boone is a kid that can bang around in the paint more than most give him credit. This weekend Boone scored the ball very well around the rim. He has a tall and lanky build that once he fills out at 6’8 or 6’9 Boone will have a chance to be a High Major player. With his current skill set Boone projects to the Mid Major plus level, but that could change with improvements. He holds offers from ORU and Tulsa.
Colt Savage 2018 Gym Time Hoops Wing
He got to the basket well and did a good job of finishing strong. Savage plays within his skill set not forcing shots. He shot the ball well from mid and three-point range, saw the court well and displayed a good handle. Savage continued to show why he is one of the more highly sought after Guards by Division II programs and is getting Low Major Division I interest. This weekend Savage was huge scoring the ball very effectively.
Rondel Walker 2020 Team Griffin Guard
Walker had a great weekend for Team Griffin scoring the ball at an extremely high level. He was very efficient even in his 52 point outburst. Walker is a do it all Guard for Team Griffin that sees the floor well. He does so many things good with the versatility to play at the one or the two. Walker will have his choice of many schools before his high school career is done.
