Embery blowing up
The Under Armour All-American Camp gives players a chance to up their stock against some of the top talents in the country. 2018 Combo Guard Keyshawn Embery took full advantage of his opportunity shining brightly.
“The camp was great,” said Embery. “Going against all of them good players and just being there. What led me to my success was just keeping the mindset to go at anybody and stay aggressive the whole time.”
Embery did just that showing coaches he has the handles, vision, drive to the bucket and the biggest thing he taught college coaches was his three-point shot. Embery had a shaky start to the spring with his three-point shooting percentage but has since then bounced back hugely. Kansas Team Camp with Midwest City was the start of Embery heating up. In the opening live period, Embery continued his hot streak with Oklahoma Run PWP in the Under Armour Finals Open Division. This past week Embery wowed coaches doing a little bit of everything against elite talent at the Under Armour All-American Camp.
The national camps give players the platform. When a player has a big weekend as Embery did, they receive a boatload of college scholarships. Texas A&M was first to offer followed by Arizona State, Butler, and Cincinnati. Several Power-5 schools including West Virginia, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Kansas have reached out to Embery showing interest. Embery counts all of the scholarships coming in as a huge blessing.
“How does it feel blowing up? It’s just a blessing man,” said Embery. ” I’m just trying to show everything I got not just scoring.”
Before July Embery released his top five schools, expect the list to change a little after his recent offers. One positive for those schools is they have been recruiting Embery for quite some time. Purdue, Nebraska, Houston, Tulsa, and Creighton were the five schools Embery named before the July live periods.
