Big Shots : Bluegrass State Prospects
The Bluegrass State of Kentucky brought some teams down to the Grand Strand and Myrtle Beach, SC this past weekend for Big Shots. Prep Hoops SC takes a look at some of the players that we happened to see during the event.
Jared Coomer (2018) – Barren County HS (Glasgow) / NKY Force AAU (pictured on front)
Coomer we first saw a few years back down here in Myrtle Beach. Coomer is a young high school senior. Coomer is ranked #31 in the Bluegrass State 2018 Class. Coomer has a nice mid-range game from 15-17 feet on the floor. Coomer a deceptive athlete can handle the rock up the floor at 6’7.
JJ Kalakon (2019) – Waggener HS (Louisville) / M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs (pictured on front)
Kalakon finishes at the rim with both hands. Kalakon 6’4 wing rebounds the ball well on both sides of the floor. Kalakon is ranked #9 in the 2019 Bluegrass State.
Brennan Canada (2019) – Montgomery County HS (Sterling) / M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs
Canada 6’5 is a deep range shooter on the floor. Canada hit several open shots today. Canada looked to defend in the post and played out on the wing on the offensive side of the floor. Canada is ranked #13 in the 2019 Class.
Mason Shifflett (2019) – Wesley Christian HS (Allen) / M.A.T.T.S. Mustangs
Shifflett is a tough minded kid who leaves it all on the floor. Shifflett seemed to be in the middle of every loose ball and hard pick on the floor. Shifflett has a great feel for the game. Shifflett is ranked #14 in the 2019 Class.
Brady Dingess (2022) – Martin County M.S. (Warfield) / Big Shots West Virginia 14U
Dingess plays beyond his years on the floor. Dingess enetering just the 8th grade will start this coming season at Sheldon Clark HS (Inez). Dingess a point guard has unreal court vision and savvy on the floor. Dingess never seems to be frazzled when the game. Dingess could be one of the top players in the Bluegrass State when it’s all said and done.
