2019 Stock Risers
The 2019 rankings have been updated for the first time since November. We have seen several players step up their play and in result, they have seen their ranking rise. Here are my 2019 stock risers.
Tyson Garff 6’4 Guard (Davis) as sophomore didn’t have a huge role on a very good Davis team. Since the season ended, Garff has been on a tear and has shown he is D1 prospect at the point guard position. Garff sees the floor extremely well and can also shoot from deep with ease. He is the #7 ranked prospect from Utah in a loaded 2019 class.
Hayden Welling 6’8 Forward (Corner Canyon) has a very solid sophomore season as a role player for state semi-finalist Corner Canyon. He has a bigger role and has shown with his production. Welling is kid who goes after every loose ball and is a great rebounder. He can also defend on a high level which makes him a D1 prospect. I see him at least at a Big Sky level prospect and could be a mid-major prospect by this time next year. Welling is the #11 ranked player in the class of 2019.
Majok Kuath 6’6 Forward (Kearns) has really shown that he has guards skills as I have seen him take opposing defenders off of the bounce. Kuath is also a very skilled finisher in the paint and he runs the floor very well. If he can knock down his outside shot with more consistency, he will definitely be a kid I could see going D1. Kuath is the #8 ranked player in the class of 2019.
Trevon Allfrey 6’6 Forward (Copper Hills) had a very good high school season as he averaged nearly 10 points per game. He is a knock down catch and shoot three point shooter which makes him hard to guard for opposing bigs. Allfrey has a huge wingspan which allows him to finish over taller defenders. He is the #15 ranked player in the class of 2019.
Sano Gasana 6’4 Guard (Layton Christian) has played really well during the June high school season. He is a very athletic guard who can finish in traffic. I like the way he blows by defenders with his first step. He still needs some polishing in his game but I think he is a really Juco prospect who could be ready for D1 after two years there. Gasana is the #17 ranked player in the class of 2019.
Liki Makaui 5’11 Guard (Highland) came out of nowhere down the stretch of the high school season. The quick guard is very hard to guard with his quickness and he is a deadly shooter. I really like the way he can run a team and get other guys going. I see Makaui as a lower-level college player but still is a kid to watch out for going into his junior season, He is the #25 ranked player in the class of 2019.
