With our release of the latest version of the 2019 Prospect Rankings, we look to break down each position. Prep Hoops Kentucky breaks down the power forwards and bigs here:
Isaiah Cozart, Madison Central
Cozart stands at 6’7 and is already breaking shot blocking records going into his junior season at Madison Central. Along the way he helped guide the Indians to a 19-15 overall record and a trip the the 11th Region semi-final game. Cozart was just short of a double-double in the semi-final game, battling it out against Kentucky’s #1 ranked team at the time, Scott County. Isiah averaged 12 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, shooting over 60% from the field.
Dieonte Miles, Walton-Verona
At 6’8, Miles has been killing it at Walton-Verona. And it wasn’t until recently that his talents were showcased on a national stage. Dieonte played with a local AAU team, competing only in local events. Later this summer Miles chose to run with the Louisville Magic’s 17U team. He’s already gaining interest from Northern Kentucky University and some other local D-1 programs. Miles led Walton-Verona in points and rebounds, averaging just over 12 and 6, helping the Bearcats to a 26-7 record.
Ahmed Mahmoud, Wesley Christian
The 6’7 Mahmoud will have to decide to stay at Wesley Christian after a coaching change or leave the program like much of his teammates have elected to do. Mahmoud has a wealth of talent. Stay tuned.
DeShaud St. Martin, Danville High School
St. Martin, a 6’7 power forward from Danville High School, averaged just under 10 points and 6 rebounds last season as a sophomore. DeShaud rebounds the ball well and finishes it from just about anywhere around the basket. The Admiral is sure to garner more interest as time goes by. Morehead State, Alcorn State, Arkansas State, Georgetown College, and Lindenwood up to this point.
