2017 17U Double Pump Champions – “SEATTLE SWISH” – team notes
DOUBLE PUMP 17U CHAMPIONS SEATTLE SWISH – DAVID BROWN:
At one of the most prestigious tournaments in the pacific northwest. The Seattle Swish came out victorious. It comes to no surprise because they have a couple of championship trophies in their closet from winning this tournament in the past.
With what I feel to be two of the top guards in the state on their roster in the brown brothers. Both can handle the ball, shoot at a high clip and create for themselves and others off the dribble. Both boys will be playing at the collegiate level and most teams will acknowledge that on their scouting reports. Most teams stepping on the floor against Swish know they are the focal point of their attack. This time around Swish came with some heavy hitters. A long and strong wing Markus Stevenson from Hillcrest Prep and a deadly shooter in Trey Tyson.
Stevenson is a long Wing that will surprise you with his athleticism with some thunderous dunks. He has a huge upside with untapped potential. On the Wing Stevenson can score from all three levels. The length of Stevenson gives opponents trouble in the passing lanes. He will have the chance to draw Division I and II interest with a good showing in California during the live period. Stevenson has gained some offers/interest from NJIT, Rider, Drexel and some other Low Major D1 schools.
Tyson, he is an athletic guard that has good quickness and a tremendous feel for the game. Deep range and can drive off the bounce and finish strong at the rim. In the tournament he showed a lot of coaches he is a potential D2 recruit. He has gained some offers/interest from Pacific University, some JUCO and NWACC schools.
With the live period coming to an end at the end of this month, Seattle Swish is scheduled to appear in the Las Vegas Fab 48 Tournament from July 27-30, which Swish has won the last 2 years in a row. In a previous interview with Coach Brown he stated that, “July time is very important for the kids to get as much exposure as possible. These two tournaments will allow a lot of coaches to view these kids at one place.”
I look forward to following them as they finish out the live period at the Fab 48 tournament in Vegas.
