Top Oklahoma 2018 Point Forwards
In a sport that is becoming more position less, the forward spot has become a way for players to show off their ability to make plays with the ball in their hands. Here are five of the best point-forwards in Oklahoma.
Mo Wilson 2018 Northwest Classen
Wilson is a 6’6 forward who plays guard for NW Classen and he is one of the most talented prospects in this class. He has developed his game over the years and has molded himself into a skilled point-forward.
The 2018 forward handles the ball majority of the time for NWC and he their top playmaker. Wilson doesn’t beat you with athleticism but he uses his high skill level to get to where he wants to go. With freakishly long wing span and large hands, Wilson is able to handle the ball like a point guard.
He is an elite rebounder which allows him to grab the ball off the glass and go which makes NWC much more dangerous in transition. Wilson is the type of prospect that can bring an entire new layer to a college offense due to his ability to handle the ball at 6’6 and make plays for others.
Jacob Ogle 2018 Norman
Ogle is primarily a scorer but he began to develop playmaking skills. At 6’6, Ogle often handles the ball with his Oklahoma Impact squad which has shown off not just his scoring prowess but also his ability to run an offense efficiently.
His offensive versatility is a blessing for his coaches who have the ability to play him at four or five different positions on the floor. Bigger guards are becoming the trend again and Ogle has received interest from a few schools for his services.
Ogle is very good in isolation situations so as he looks over the defense he hits his cutting teammates playing off of him. The foundation of his game is scoring but Ogle has developed into a good point-forward who can his and create for others.
Luke Major 2018 OKC Storm
Major like many of the point-forwards is a long lanky player who uses his high skill level to get the job done. OKC Storm often goes to him when they need a play made.
He is a 6’6 forward who can handle the ball and has the feel for passing on time and on target. Major had a productive year on the homeschool circuit this past year. The 2018 forward also impressed against top notch competition in 5A and 6A.
He has developed his game into becoming a layered offensive player who can do a bunch of different things. This is a big year for Major to become even more known to players and coaches around the state. Whenever the OKC Storm take the floor this fall, you can be sure the ball will be in Major’s hands often.
Layton Hartloff 2018 Claremore
Hartloff is one of the main reasons Claremore advanced to the 5A State Championship game this past season. Though Hartloff doesn’t have point guard responsibilities, he is a key part of the Zebras offense. They run a lot of their offense through him which allows the 6’7 forward to show his scoring and playmaking ability in space.
He was on fire all state tournament so teams began doubling him in the post so Hartloff was patient and found the open man for a shot. Claremore has the luxury of running their offensive through this skilled big man.
Hartloff can run the offense in the half court through him and make sure the Zebras get good looks. He is an interesting prospect who skills are growing each season and his passing ability is a rare for a man his size.
