Top 2018 Oklahoma Point Guards: Kamden Gipson
Kamden Gipson has had a breakout summer showing off his feisty defense and underrated scoring ability. Gipson has stepped his game up and has become one of the fastest rising prospects in the 2018 class.
Gipson is a point guard for Edmond Santa Fe and he showed throughout the high school season that he had intriguing potential. However, this summer Gipson has enjoyed much success so far with the OK Power program.
Gipson has found himself on a talented team but his attributes are beginning to shine more and more with each game.
At 5’11, you don’t think Gipson as much of a scorer. He quickly gets the “small feisty defender” label that many of guards his size are stuck with. They see his baby face and think that he wont go at them.
Gipson counteracts that with a kill or killed mentality on the floor which serves him well.
Gipson can score in bunches which was evident when he exploded for 8 straight points in a huge performance at the 2017 Prep Hoops State Tournament.
Those type of scoring burst are common from him. He has extraordinary finishing ability in the paint. Rather its a floater or a fancy right hand layup, Gipson has the ability to finish despite his size disadvantage.
Using his smooth jumper and crafty finishing abilities, the 2018 guard has become a star in his role for the Power.
Gipson will be vital for the Wolves this upcoming season as he teams up with 2018 Tauriawn Knight to make one of the better backcourts in the state.
Gipson has not received much attention from college coaches yet but he has played well enough this summer to put himself on the map.
Gipson projects as a low D2 point guard. Either as a starter or sixth man, he has what it take to run a team and he can score tough baskets when needed.
