Following the championship, the rising all-star game took place. Unlike the underclassmen showcase earlier in the evening, this game had constant energy and competitiveness throughout. Here are how the rosters shaped out:

The white team came out on top 83-82. Let’s take a look at who stood out the most:
Demetrius Mims | Poly | 2018
Mims is just a different type of dude. When he gets the ball in the open floor, it doesn’t matter who is in his way, he’s going to attack the rim like it stole something from him. Whenever the opportunity presents itself, Mims will look to throw a dunk down on an opposing player’s head. The game tipped off with him being the representative for the jump ball. After it got deflected off an opposing player’s hand, Mims gathered it and proceeding to glide to the lane finishing with a powerful one-handed dunk to set the tone. Some players take all-star games easy. Not Mims. The 6’5 guard finished with 20 points.
Gates Cook | Dundalk | 2018
Cook had a nice showing throughout this game. Because he can shoot the long ball so well, lackadaisical defense means for plenty of open shots. However Gates was doing more of his scoring by breaking down his defender off the dribble and knocking down pull-up jumpers. Cook also did a good job of finding guys in the open floor for fastbreak points. The 6’4 guard finished with a game-high 22 points on the night.
Trayon Wright | St. Paul’s | 2018
Wright finished the game with 0 points. So how did he stand out? As always, he the 6′ guard did all the little things well. He and Mims developed instant chemistry out in transition that resulted in multiple alley-oop finishes. Wright was active defensively and was able to deflect a number of passes that also resulted in points for his team.
Brad Witt | Gerstell Academy | 2018
Witt is a 6’5 athletic undersized big. He makes up for his lack of elite height with incredible hustle and a mixture of good athleticism. Because he runs the floor very well, he was the beneficiary of many easy buckets in transition, but he also stood out in the rebounding department.
Dwight Felton | Mt. Carmel | 2018
Felton is a shifty guard that can shoot it from all three levels. While he didn’t light the nets on fire during this game, his energy and decision making was still good. He knocked down multiple shots including one three. His main focus was getting his teammates involved and getting out in the open floor.
Rashawd Clowney | Patterson Mill | 2018
Clowney is an undersized big at 6’4, but his physicality and effort is often times unmatched. This was the case in this game last night. Clowney was extremely active trying to contest every shot around the rim. He was able to distort a handful that resulted in misses. Offensively, his activity on the offensive glass made him the beneficiary of put-back buckets throughout the game. Clowney finished with eight points.
